    A temporary ban on fishing begins to operate in Karelia

    During the spring-spawning period in the reservoirs of Karelia, fishing restrictions are usually introduced, and this year is no exception.

    How long the ban on fishing will last, we were told in the department of state control, supervision and fish protection in Karelia of the North-Western Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries.

    According to acting the head of the department Oleg Kolesnikov, the terms of the bans differ in different reservoirs. It is also taken into account that there are several types of fishing (industrial, coastal, for scientific or cultural purposes, for the peoples of the north, sports, amateur) and for each of them the timing is also different.

    At the same time, according to Kolesnikov, fishing with nets is prohibited on all lakes in Karelia from the moment the ice melted until June 30. This applies to recreational fishing. Fishing rods and spinning rods are allowed, but certain rules must be taken into account: as for fishing rods, it is allowed to use only four single hooks on a line no more than 10 meters long for hand fishing gear. For spinning, it is allowed to use a lure with one single hook, a long line (line) of no more than 10 meters.

    In case of violation of fishing rules, an administrative protocol will be drawn up and a fine in the amount of 2,000 to 5,000 rubles will be imposed in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. Cases of administrative offenses will also be referred to court to resolve the issue of confiscation of fishing gear. In special cases, materials will be transferred to law enforcement agencies to address the issue of bringing the perpetrators to criminal responsibility.

    Kolesnikov also noted that inspectors will be on duty around the clock along with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard.

    Fishing rules in Karelia

    In this article we will talk about the prohibitions and restrictions on fishing in the Republic of Karelia. First of all, it should be said that fishing restrictions are imposed for a reason. This is necessary to maintain the fish population. Even now, in many lakes and rivers of Karelia, fish are noticeably less than 50-60 years ago. And if you continue to catch it en masse with nets, and during spawning, it will not lead to anything good. Our children will be happy even to catch a ruff.

    But if you are not worried about the preservation of fish in the waters of our country, at least think about responsibility. The penalties for catching some fish (eg salmon) can be substantial. Should I spoil fishing with unpleasant incidents?

    When is it forbidden to fish in Karelia?

    Information is published annually on the website of the Federal Agency for Fishery - fish.gov.ru. There you can not only find out about the timing of the ban on fishing in the Republic of Karelia (and other regions), but also see information on specific water bodies. The timing here can be very different. For example, in one year it was forbidden to fish on Lake Yanisjärvi until June 20, and in Tikshozero there was a ban only on fishing with nets. At the same time, it was forbidden to fish in the Shuya River until July 31.

    In some water bodies of Karelia, fishing may be prohibited for a whole year, so check the information yourself before the trip. But in general, in most bodies of water, the ban on fishing is valid until June 15-20. But this is not a big problem, especially for the northern regions, since before these numbers it does not make much sense to go fishing - the water is still very cold and muddy.

    For many lakes in Karelia, there are no prohibitions and restrictions at all, first of all, this applies to small ones that are far from settlements and where they have never caught fish by commercial methods. If the lake is difficult to access, then fishing is almost certainly allowed, albeit with some restrictions.

    The main thing is the spawning prohibition, which is needed to preserve the fish population, especially valuable species. The spawning ban is introduced annually and without exception.

    Where to fish in Karelia during the fishing ban?

    On the website of the Federal Agency for Fishery, specific reservoirs with prohibitions are indicated. Most of the restrictions are associated with rivers. For example, fishing may be prohibited in all rivers that flow into Lake Onega or the White Sea (that is, in all that flow in the adjacent regions of Karelia).

    • Fishing is allowed only with hand tools (fishing rod, spinning rod, fly fishing, etc.);
    • The total number of single hooks should not be more than four (that is, donks with a large number of hooks cannot be used);
    • Do not use line longer than 10 meters.

    That is, if you look at the last two points, it becomes clear that you cannot fish with spinning. In fact, this causes surprise and bewilderment, but here they obviously want to protect salmon and a number of other valuable fish. The average fine if you are caught spinning in Karelia during the ban is one thousand rubles.

    And so, one might say, it happened. There are at least normal, in terms of punishment, additions to the rules of fishing. Very, very many residents of Karelia, and not only fishermen, are outraged by poaching fishing in our lakes. An ordinary summer resident or a lover of fishing cannot get pleasure from the morning dawn on the lake. In any case, in the immediate vicinity of Petrozavodsk, there is no reason to hope for a good catch with a fishing rod. If it is caught, then the fish is small, not reaching 4-5 years. The larger one cannot seep through the networks in any way. And the nets are everywhere. In any more or less large reservoir there are hundreds of them. There are thousands in Onega, Ladoga, Syamozero, Vygozero. Especially a lot of fish are caught during spawning. All spawning grounds are occupied by poachers. In the forest there are tents of real gypsy camps. And before the fish inspection has time to leave, new barriers grow from the nets. And since the fish has not laid eggs, then there will be no fish itself. If even 20 - 25 years ago in Lake Losossin, which is near Petrozavodsk, 12 kg pike were caught, now 4 kg is already a curiosity. Another surprise is that the fishery supervision works as best it can, but at the same time, fresh pike, perch, and bream are sold in the city's markets. And no one thinks if the catch is prohibited, and it is prohibited not only in our country, where the fish comes from. And how to understand fishing by organizations. Earlier it was called - goslov. The same fish, also with caviar, but in other nets. Why are they allowed. The situation is already critical. Another 20-25 years and the Karelians will eat frozen blue whiting. What kind of Putin can we talk about? Don't be seduced by the notorious salmon herd in Lake Onega. They catch what the fish factories have grown and released. By the way, on budget money. But there are not many of them. On fishing licenses, the republic will not earn money even to recoup the money spent. All fishing is in private hands. Everyone knows how taxes are paid from uncontrolled organizations. Fishermen with a license went to the lake today, did not go, only the owner of the company knows how much they caught. The ban should be installed on any fishing during spawning. No one dies of hunger. And to bail out the last is already a crime. Crime against the people. In front of our children and grandchildren. It would be a good decision to make fisheries supervision self-sufficient for some time. Give them a percentage of the fine and let the men work. And don't limit their earnings. Let him get at least 200,000 a month, but there would be much less nets in the lakes. And in the morning it would be possible to just sit with a fishing rod and fish for okushki and roach, and not chase the last ruff across the lake.
