Olympic Games 2016. Handball players in the finals! Results of the day

We conducted an online broadcast of the 13th day of the Olympics. The most interesting events, photographs, messages from social networks and recognition of the heroes of the Games!

Brazilians Agatha and Barbara lost the gold medals to the Germans Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst, A Larissa and Talita failed to take bronze in the match with Kerry Walsh/April Ross. This day of endless Brazilian mourning for its women volleyball players (a day earlier the women's classic volleyball team also left the Olympic tournament) has finally ended. The day has arrived for the men's decisive matches: the public's favorites must compete in the "golden" battle of the men's Olympic beach volleyball tournament Alison/Bruno and Italian abusers of Russian couples Daniele Lupo and Paolo Nicolai.

But the Russian fan was much more worried about the match for bronze medals - for the first time in the history of beach volleyball, a domestic pair had every chance of winning awards. And could have played for gold - our own mistakes, supported by an amazing

the work of the referees in the semi-final meeting with the Italians. Be that as it may, Slava and Kostya are worthy contenders for bronze. The Russian duo played a very even tournament, losing only one game in almost two weeks - that same semi-final, to a pair from Italy.

Krasilnikov and Semyonov did not force events and did not waste their emotions - in matches even with venerable opponents, if possible, they did not burst with courage and mood, they preserved the adrenaline. Having flown through the group in one breath, we went from first place to the playoffs - the Poles were defeated Grzegorz Fijalek/Mariusz Prudel, Dutch Reidner Nummerdor/Christian Varenhorst, Chileans Esteban Grimalt/Marco Grimalt. 1/8 final match with a pair from Qatar - Jefferson/Sheriff- and seemed completely exemplary in terms of tactics, technique and psychological readiness of both the experienced Konstantin and the Olympic debutant Vyacheslav.

    Match for 3rd place

    Krasilnikov/Semyonov (Russia) - Brouwer/Meeusen (Netherlands) - 0:2 (21:23, 20:22).

The highlight of not only our couple’s journey, but the entire tournament, was the quarterfinal match with the Cuban duet - Nivaldo Diaz and Sergio Gonzalez. Apart from the representatives of the two Americas, few could boast of a close acquaintance with the game of these guys - the Cubans do not participate in the World Tour. And at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Diaz and Gonzalez hit their opponents with a skating rink. But they ran into resistance from the Russians. An incredible match in terms of intensity, the desperate exploits of Krasilnikov in defense and Semenov on the block - three games, none of which met the point limit (22:20, 22:24, 18:16), and Vyacheslav and Konstantin, who gave their all, in semi-finals After this massacre with the Cubans (it’s difficult to call that meeting any other way), the Russian couple could no longer contain their emotions - and neither could we. It was so powerful and so desperately beautiful!

And then... Lupo and Nikolai ended up in the finals, and Semyonov and Krasilnikov went out to fight for bronze medals with the Dutch Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen, the second seeds of the Olympic tournament. The 2013 world champions also lost their semi-final in three games, although they had less chance of winning it. Brouwer and Meeuwsen outright lost the first set to Brazilian favorites Alison and Bruno and lost the second - the home team had three match points! At that moment, inspiration descended on the Dutch, and the Brazilians suddenly decided to count the local crows - in the end they had to play a tai-

break. In an already absolutely equal fight, the Brazilians turned out to be a little more even, more accurate and luckier. And now Mammoth Alison (that’s what they call him in the “beach” world, although, in the author’s humble opinion, this guy looks more like a bear) buries himself almost completely in the sand. Apparently, trying to cool down the heat caused by the victory.

The start of the match turned out to be equal: the Russian duo had better defense, the Dutch one had better serve and block. Thanks to the skillful introduction of the ball into play, the opponents Krasilnikov and Semenov earned the first small lead - 7:4. By the next change of sides, the Russians caught up - Konstantin looked great on the block, and it was with this element of the game that our pair earned two break goals. By the middle of the game, Semyonov and Krasilnikov took the lead - 17:15: it was the Dutch who began to make inaccuracies, while Slava and Kostya tried to increase the momentum to the limit. As a result, they themselves could not maintain this pace - they lost two set points on Meeuwsen’s serve and, in an equal game, lost the game on balance - 21:23.

And immediately after the start of the second set, it began to rain, and the small drops falling on the sand of Copacabana, alas, also played against ours - and it was already difficult for them. Brouwer and Meeuwsen already secured an advantage at the start of the set with a block, without allowing the slightest mistake in the attack. And they didn’t allow Semenov and Krasilnikov to get closer - 12:9. The situation developed according to the scenario of the first set, but exactly the opposite: the Dutch pair had set points (or rather, match points). There were many more of them - three. On Krasilnikov's serve, the score was leveled - Vyacheslav put the ball into play much more aggressively than in the match as a whole. What prevented you from starting to do this earlier, Slava? So, 20:20 - Alexander and Robert didn’t raise an eyebrow. Krasilnikov simplified the next serve, it was accepted and the ball was literally smashed into the Russian side of the court. And the match point that was converted on the nth attempt was truly offensive - I made a mistake on the pass.

The first Olympic medal in beach volleyball still remains a Russian dream: Semyonov and Krasilnikov came closest to it among all current and retired athletes. I hope their path will lead them into Olympic history - already in Tokyo 2020.

The Russian team is considered one of the strongest at the upcoming Olympics, along with the teams of the USA, China, Germany, and Italy. Russians traditionally perform successfully in certain sports disciplines. Therefore, Russia can safely count on medals in fencing, swimming, shooting, tennis - these are sports where the Russian team predicts to win medals at Rio 2016. Russians are the undisputed favorites of the 2016 Olympics in synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics. Sports experts predict that Russia will win medals at the 2016 Games in martial arts: freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, and boxing. Representatives of team sports: basketball, volleyball, handball and water polo do not plan to leave South America without awards and medals. Many medals could be expected from track and field athletes, especially in race walking, running, high jumping both with and without a pole, weightlifting..., but doping scandals and politics took their toll, Russians were banned from competing in these medal-intensive events.

Volleyball competitions at the Summer Olympics first appeared at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and have been included in the program of each subsequent Games since then.

    History and competition system

Volleyball was recognized as an Olympic sport by the decision of the 53rd session of the International Olympic Committee, held in 1957 in Sofia. By this period, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) united 115 national federations. However, volleyball was not included in the program of the 1960 Summer Olympic Games in Rome - it was too late to change the program and competition calendar.

In the first Olympic volleyball tournament, 6 women's and 10 men's teams participated, subsequently their number increased, which led to a change in the format of the Olympic tournaments: at the 1964 and 1968 Games, competitions were held in a round-robin system, since 1972, knockout matches were introduced (play-by-play). off, or Olympic system).

By 1996, the number of participants in Olympic tournaments was increased to 12 and a new qualification system for the Games was introduced. The selection is made based on the results of the World Cup, continental and world qualifying tournaments preceding the Games.

Olympic tournaments are held for men's and women's teams according to the same scheme, which provides for the games to be held strictly every other day and includes two stages: first, the participants of the competition play in a round-robin system in two groups (A and B), then the teams that finished in groups 1- 4th place, play according to the knockout system, starting from the quarterfinals. There are no classification matches at the Olympic Games: the losers of the quarter-finals are ranked 5th, the fifth-placed teams in Groups A and B are classified in 9th place, and the group stage underdogs are classified in 11th place.

Beach volleyball was present at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona as a demonstration sport, was recognized as an Olympic sport at the 101st session of the International Olympic Committee in Monte Carlo on September 24, 1993, and made its competitive debut at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Men's and women's tournaments in this discipline began to be held simultaneously.

As in classic volleyball, tournaments consist of a group stage and playoffs. They are attended by 24 teams (no more than two from one country), which include the team of the organizing country, the current world champions (since 2015), 15 leaders of the International Volleyball Federation ranking, 5 winners of the Continental Cup and 2 teams based on the results of the finals World Cup.

Beach volleyball – Russian Olympic Committee

Photo - Sergey Kivrin and Andrey Golovanov

A game played on a sandy court divided by a net, in which two teams, located on opposite sides of the net, throw the ball over it with their hands in order to land it on the other side and prevent the ball from falling on their side of the court. There are 2 players in a team. There are no replacements. The winning team is the one that wins 2 sets out of 3. The first 2 sets are played to no less than 21 points, the third, decisive set - to 15 points. A team wins a set if it is ahead of its opponent by 2 or more points. A point is awarded after each play of the ball. The team that won the point in the previous draw serves the ball. The ball may touch the net when serving. After the team has touched the ball 3 times, the ball must go to the other half of the court - to the opponents. One player does not have the right to touch the ball 2 times in a row, except when a block is made. A block in beach volleyball, unlike volleyball, is considered a touch of the ball. The size of the playing field is 8x16 meters. Players change courts after every 7 serves in the first two sets, and after every 5 serves in the third set. The maximum allowable pause between ball plays is 12 seconds. Each team is entitled to one 30-second timeout during the set. In the first two sets, there is a 30-second technical break after every 21st serve. The break between sets is 60 seconds. The ball cannot be picked up or thrown with your hands. Players are not allowed to touch the net with their body. Net height: 2.24 meters for women's teams, 2.43 for men's.

The average game duration is 40 minutes. Beach volleyball requires special athleticism and endurance, in addition, beach volleyball players must be all-rounders - in this sport, players are rarely divided into roles.

Beach volleyball: description, history, rules, equipment

Beach volleyball is an Olympic sport, a team sport played with a ball on a sandy court divided by a high net, in which the goal is to direct the ball towards the opponent so that it lands in the opponent's half or to cause a mistake on the part of the opposing team player.

The International Volleyball Federation (from the French Fédération Internationale de Volleyball, abbr. FIVB) is an international federation that unites 220 national federations. The headquarters is located in the Swiss city of Lausanne.

History of the emergence and development of beach volleyball

Beach volleyball originated in the early 1920s on the beaches of California (USA). In 1927, beach volleyball became known in Europe, first in France, and then in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and Latvia.

The first official beach volleyball tournament was held in the USA in 1947, after which the game began to gain popularity and almost became equal to surfing.

In 1965, the California Beach Volleyball Association was created, and it also developed the first rules for beach volleyball. In 1983, the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) was created.

In 1986, beach volleyball received the status of an international sport, and in 1987, the first, not yet official, world championship was held in Rio de Janeiro. The first official championship was held only in 1997 in Los Angeles.

In 1996, beach volleyball made its debut at the Olympic Games in Atlanta (USA).

    Beach volleyball rules (briefly)

Let's look briefly at the rules of playing beach volleyball. Let’s immediately make a reservation that the rules in beach volleyball are the same for men and women. Beach volleyball teams consist of two people; if one of the players is injured and cannot continue playing, then that team is considered defeated.

Teams take turns serving, with the first team serving until they lose the right to serve due to a loss of a point or an error. After the team plays the serve again, another player serves, etc.

A beach volleyball match consists of two games with a score of up to 21 points. If the game reaches the third set, then the score is kept to 15 points. To win in each game, a difference in score of at least two points is required. Teams change sides more often than in regular volleyball. The change of sides occurs after every seven points in the first two games, and every five points in the third.

Rules for receiving the ball: in beach volleyball, the ball can be hit with any part of the body, but players of one team can touch the ball no more than three times, after which they must return it to the opponent’s side.

For violations of the rules or inappropriate behavior, players receive warnings (yellow card), reprimands (red card), expulsions (red and yellow cards at the same time, means loss in the game) or disqualification (red and yellow cards in different hands at the same time, means loss in the match) .

    Beach volleyball court

The dimensions of the beach volleyball court are 16 meters long and 8 meters wide. The site is covered with sand at least 40 cm deep and divided into two equal parts by a mesh. The net in men's beach volleyball is at a height of 2.43 meters, and in women's at a height of 2.24 meters.

The marking of the volleyball court is carried out using 5 centimeter tapes, which are secured using metal pegs or special wooden disks.

Uniforms and equipment for beach volleyball

A beach volleyball ball is slightly larger than its classic counterpart (66-68 cm), and, on the contrary, the pressure in it is less. The ball must have a bright color.

Beach volleyball equipment consists of shorts or swimsuits, without any shoes on the feet.

    Judging

Refereeing in beach volleyball is carried out with the help of two main referees, one of whom (the first) ensures that techniques during the game are performed in accordance with the rules. He can also correct the decisions of the second referee.

The second referee monitors the progress at the net and at the halfway line, as well as the behavior of coaches and substitute players, and provides comprehensive assistance to the first referee. In addition to the main referees, there are line judges on the field.

    Competitions

The Olympic Games are the most prestigious international beach volleyball championship, held once every four years.

The World Beach Volleyball Championship is an international competition held under the auspices of the International Volleyball Federation.

The European Championship is a competition between European national teams, which is held under the auspices of the European Volleyball Confederation.

Olympic Games 2016. Rio de Janeiro. Beach volleyball / Beach volleyball

The first matches at the Olympic Games in Rio start today. The men's part of the beach volleyball competition will feature 24 teams from 15 countries, including two Russian pairs. Games for the “beachers” will be held from August 6 to 18. Almost all matches will take place on the Center Court of the huge temporary stadium on Copacabana Beach with a capacity of 12,000 spectators, specially built for the Olympic Games.

Tournament Format The teams that finish in the first two places in their groups advance directly to the Round of 16. Also, the two best couples from all who took third place in their groups get there. The remaining four pairs, who finished third in the group stage, are competing for two more tickets to the Round of 16. Next, the teams play for elimination. In the men's competition, our country is represented by two teams - Konstantin Semenov and Vyacheslav Krasilnikov, who qualified for the tournament through the World Tour, as well as Nikita Lyamin and Dmitry Barsuk, who received their license through the World Continental Cup.

The draw for groups took place on July 9. According to the rules, couples from the same country could not get into the same group, so all double teams must be separated.

    Pool A Alison/Bruno Schmidt BRA Ranghieri/Carambula ITA Doppler/Horst AUT Binstock/Schachter CAN

One of the strongest groups. The Brazilians certainly look like the favorites here, but, as the last pre-Olympic tournaments have shown, it is possible to beat them, but so far the statistics speak in favor of Alison and Bruno; of all the rivals in this group, only Doppler and Horst were able to beat the Brazilians, once in 2015.

    Pool B Brouwer/Meeuwsen NED Losiak/Kantor POL Böckermann/Flüggen GERBarsouk/Liamin RUS

Our guys have a very working group, all the pairs are well known and even played. The Dutch, perhaps, look like the favorites; they were in second place in the Olympic rankings at the end of the selection process. But the Olympics are a special tournament and the one with the stronger nerves will win here. If the guys calmly play their game and don’t forget about speed, they will be able to get out of the group without additional play-offs.

    Pool C Lucena/Dalhausser USA Nicolai/Lupo ITA Virgen/Ontiveros MEX Naceur. Ma/Belhai. C TUN

The Americans look like the favorites here, but it was the Italians who knocked them out of the last Olympics in London and, together with the Mexicans, already beat them at the World Tour this season. The Tunisians are completely unknown and it is impossible to predict how they will perform.

    Pool D Pedro Solberg/Evandro BRA Samoilovs/Smedins J. LAT Schalk/Saxton CAN Diaz/Gonzalez CUB

Interesting group. Although the Brazilians are higher in the Olympic rankings, the Latvians periodically beat them at the stages of the World Tour. And the Cubans, although they do not play in such tournaments, have 8 gold medals at the NORCECA Beach Tour.

    Pool E Nummerdor/Varenhorst NEDSemenov/Krasilnikov RUS Fijalek/Prudel POL Grimalt/Grimalt CHI

Here our guys also have a good group, all the opponents are quite capable.

    Pool F Gibb/Patterson USA Herrera/Gavira ESP Huber/Seidl AUT Jefferson/Cherif QAT

Perhaps the Austrians look weaker, but the pair is very tenacious and unyielding, which, even losing during the match, fights to the end and knows how to draw quick conclusions from their own mistakes.

Russians traditionally perform successfully in certain sports disciplines. Therefore, Russia can safely count on medals in fencing, swimming, shooting, tennis - these are sports where the Russian team predicts to win medals at Rio 2016.
