• Group exercise in rhythmic gymnastics. The dream Team

The history of the creation of the team "Madonna"

Having received a proposal in 2002 to develop a new kind of sport in Russia, the teacher and trainer in rhythmic gymnastics of the Department of Physical Fitness and Sports of the Moscow State Pedagogical University Morozova Lilia Petrovna decided to make the university national team (at that time the leader in rhythmic and rhythmic gymnastics among Moscow universities) an exercise according to the rules aesthetic gymnastics.

The exercise is done, the team needed to be named! Divine, pure, beautiful, noble woman. A beautiful female face! How do you reflect this in your team name? Lilia Petrovna decided that all these descriptions are close to Madonna. Not exactly a sporting name, but it has the sublimity, inaccessibility and femininity so inherent in this sport. And the coach, dreaming of a high level of sportsmanship and brilliant sports results, was not mistaken in the name of the team. Madonna has reached the highest sporting heights. And in terms of nobility, she met the expectations of her mentor. Because the gymnasts of the Madonna team are always sincerely rooting for other teams at competitions, they never offend their rivals and do not conflict with anyone.

The first competition of the Madonna team was the 2002 Russian Championship in Stupino, Moscow Region. A few years later, Lilia Petrovna invited one of her students, who ended her sports career, Natalia Shcherbakova, to train a team with her. Natalia has done an excellent job of coaching for 5 years. The creation of the team later became the impetus for organizing aesthetic gymnastics classes for children. And so in 2004 the school of dance and gymnastics "Madonna" was created. All the students of Lilia Petrovna, who want to try themselves in the role of coaches, could and still have the opportunity to show their talents in this school. The main assistant of L.P. Morozova in the development of the EG direction and the foundation of the Madonna dance and gymnastics school, the first sportswoman of the Madonna team - Kovaleva (Smirnova) Ekaterina became. A person who sincerely loves children, always delicate and restrained. A teacher from God, as Lilia Petrovna always says about her.

The Madonna team honed their skills by performing with competitive programs at various venues of mass sports and cultural events in the city of Moscow. Thus, the coach tried to ensure the practice of performances for her team. the competitions in aesthetic gymnastics, in which the Madonna team could take part, were not enough at that time. And to master a large number of motor skills and abilities, the gymnasts invited choreographers of various dance styles to work together. Slowly but surely the team was moving towards the podium! Step by step, increasing your rating. In 2009, the team won the Miss Valentine international tournament for the first time. Then Lilia Petrovna had the first tears of joy for her "Madonna".

At the World Championship in Moscow in 2009, the team won the bronze medal. It was a great success. But in the same 2009, the demand of the International Federation of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics that the coach of the team had no right to be a judge from the federation at the same time sounded harshly. By that time, the volume of work of the vice-president of the WFEG and the head of the MFEG had become significant and more and more took up time from working in the hall. How was it to explain everything to the team, find the right person and make the right decision?

Several years before 2009, the team began cooperation with the choreographer Saniya Valentinovna Glyzina. Over the years of communication, it became clear that Sonya is a professional in gymnastics and an intelligent, refined woman with excellent taste and upbringing. And it has all those qualities that personify the very conceived image of "Madonna". Only her Lilia Petrovna could entrust her brainchild, her beloved girls. There was a risk of rejection, and the girls were afraid of a new person. But her intuition did not disappoint. Sania Valentinovna agreed to be the official coach of the team. Her brilliant work, knowledge, hard work and full dedication to the team helped the gymnasts to repeatedly rise to the highest step of the podium.

Since the founding of the team, its composition has certainly changed. And almost every year new stars came to the hall. The last championship line-up has remained practically unchanged over the past 4 years. These are special gymnasts, all, according to Lilia Petrovna, are very talented. Each of them reveals itself more and more every year both in technical training and in emotional terms.

Excellent successes, an honest, beautiful sports road and a great contribution to the development of Moscow and Russian sports. Good team history. There is something to be proud of.

Compiled from the words of the vice-president of WFEG L.P. Morozova.

During the performance of the team of gymnasts, coordination, synchronization of the exercises must prevail. One of the requirements for the performance of exercises by gymnasts is the most varied use of the entire space of the site, with smooth and varied transitions and rearrangements from one movement or construction to another. Supports that are logically included in the composition are allowed.

The All-Russian Public Organization “All-Russian Federation of Aesthetic Gymnastics” was established on April 5, 2002. Natalia Lipkovskaya, multiple world champion in rhythmic gymnastics, became the first president of the All-Russian Federation of Artistic Gymnastics.

    "EXPRESSION" (category "women"), Moscow
The team was formed in 2006 on the basis of the Moscow State University of Railways (MIIT).

I consider group exercises in rhythmic gymnastics to be underestimated. First of all - underestimated by me. I have never been interested in group competition. Of course, I came to the Sports Palace to watch them, but if they were Internet broadcasts, I almost never watched. I remember that my classmates, whom I accidentally met at the Deriugina Cup, surprised me very much, when they said that they were waiting for the competition in the group. Like, it's spectacular. I couldn't understand it.

Performing in group exercises seemed like chaos to me (and now sometimes it seems, which is already there). I especially felt this in 2012, when Irina Viner said that she had formed a new team, in which there are no identical “average” gymnasts, but there are five unique and strong personalities. Group leaders, Russia, rushed across the carpet to disco music at a frantic pace, objects flew somewhere, someone caught them as if from nowhere. Gymnasts drove around the site in colorful swimsuits and keep track of what was difficult and why. It is possible that I simply did not understand the beauty of these exercises. But it didn't inspire me. I was tired.

Although in fact, I have always understood that group exercises in gymnastics are strategically important. Because it is at the group competitions that you suddenly realize that we are not watching a battle of gymnasts from the countries of the former USSR here, but still the WORLD Championship. In group exercises, not only Russia can win, but also Italy, or Spain, or Bulgaria. Even Japan can be included in the top three. And the hearts of the audience are able to conquer in general Angola.

But only they could awaken my interest in this species. No, that's not even they, she is one team. National team of Ukraine. Here, of course, you can accuse me of promoting my own national team, of bias and glorifying only my own. You are always welcome, but this is not at all the case. The Ukrainian team is cool not because it is from Ukraine, but because it is a team.

To tell the truth, the Ukrainian national team in the group in my memory has never been able to boast of any particular success. It was once upon a time, in 2002, at the World Championships in group exercises (yes, there were even such events), the Ukrainian team, for which the personalities Anna Bessonova and Natalia Godunko played, won gold in one of the events.

There were no more high-profile victories. A pretty good result was considered to be selected for the Olympics and reach the final there.

The current Ukrainian team, which includes Evgeniya Gomon, Alena Dmitrash, Alexandra Gridasova, Alexandra Aslanyan, Valeria Gudym and Anastasia Voznyak, was able to attract attention last season. From various starts, the gymnasts undertook to bring medals and, more importantly, they conquered with their performances, their program, their presentation. And interest in them gradually increased.

It was last year that I realized that the Ukrainian national team is cool. When the gymnasts were given a program with hoops and clubs to the Vogue of Madonna, and the tapes to the music of Muse. And I, always indifferent to group exercises, began to watch them.

In the exercise with ribbons, I only liked how these five slender, tall, long-legged gymnasts - as if they were on a selection - came out in a friendly formation on the carpet, and then simultaneously threw the ribbons back. Like a girl throwing her long hair back. Effectively, in short :)

Already at the European Games in 2015, I was terribly rooting for them and told my friends what cool group players we have - look, what synchronicity in a fouett, what a setting, and most importantly, what a presentation of myself! And although I drew my girls' attention to the ribbon exercise, they liked Vogue better.

Yes, the program with clubs and hoops was staged last season to the song of Madonna Vogue. Many of the gymnasts' movements are taken from the famous clip 1990... And the movements in the video, in turn, were taken from dancing in clubs in New York, where dancers imitated the poses and movements of models from the covers of Vogue magazine.

So the gymnasts appear before us in the form of models. And they all look incredible in these notorious solid black swimwear. Personally, in their performances I am captivated by the perfection of movements, consistency and ingenious simplicity of staging. No one rushes anywhere, does not dazzle in the eyes. Synchronicity (when, of course, they succeed in everything, but recently they have pulled themselves together) is amazing. Their movements fall into the music and fully correspond to the single style of the program. And this exercise doesn't look easy to me. If I, of course, understand the group exercises correctly, assuming that their purpose is not to confuse the viewer with a fussy high speed.

Last year's program with hoops and clubs under Vogue was left to the gymnasts this season as well.

The program with five ribbons under Muse this season was replaced by fiery Brazilian motives - samba. In general, many teams have chosen Brazilian music for the Olympic season. And only for the Brazilian national team it does not look like sycophancy :) And so, of course, many countries should now be banned from playing one after another - samba on samba! Anyway, the new program of the Ukrainian national team is also successful. Although performances with ribbons are still more difficult for gymnasts and it is not so easy to maintain the Brazilian pace, the exercise "looks", and this is great. And yes, my favorite throwback of tapes at the beginning of the program was also left :)

With these programs, the Ukrainian national team will perform in August at the Olympics in Rio.

The girls managed to qualify for the Olympic Games in the qualifying world championship. Actually, they did not succeed in everything at the World Cup, I expected more from them. But it is also worth noting that for the last Olympics, the Ukrainian national team in group exercises was selected only at an additional Test event. This time, too, everything was not without difficulties - the gymnasts took ninth place, and the first eight passed the qualification. But they got an "extra quota". Two OI licenses were reserved in case only European countries were included in the top eight. Then, in order to dilute the Europeans, these quotas would be given to the best non-European countries. But the national teams of Japan and China made their way to the top eight. Thus, the United States gave one reserve license, and the second, an extra one, to the ninth number, that is, Ukraine.

Despite my admiration for the Ukrainian national team and the won medals, gymnasts are shooted away from Irina Deryugina by the gymnasts. In her last interview, Irina Ivanovna mercilessly criticized the group members. They say, with the weight of the problem, with motivation, they do not want to be the first - they should calmly enter the top three! But I believe in them. I sincerely think they are cool. And my status, written in June last year under the impression of their performances at the European Games, from where they brought silver and bronze, is still relevant (if you lower the degree of pretentiousness a little :):

“They are insanely cool. Not because they have the prohibitive complexity of collectively entangling and untangling ribbons, no. They're cool because they blow away the roof as soon as they go out on the set - very stylish in their overalls, each textured and special, but at the same time they are one whole, and not five separate cool girls. They step onto the carpet, throwing the ribbons back spectacularly - a simple movement, but how gorgeous it looks. They are special because they have their own style, character of presentation, strong energy. They are one team - to match each other, long-legged, tall and slender - but they are not at all like any other team. Their music is not a background, but synchronous fouettés are admirable. They are worthy of medals and to be in the elite of rhythmic gymnastics. "

Yes, they deserve to be in the elite. And confirmation of this is the high marks and places at the last starts.

Therefore - good luck to the girls in Rio !!! And the audience should never go to the kitchen for tea during their performances! And don't switch to news either!;)

The largest international competitions in rhythmic gymnastics include not only individual championships, but also group exercises. Nevertheless, today it is developing so that gymnasts who win medals in individual exercises are loved and honored, and many athletes performing in a group do not know by sight and by name. This fact does not mean that group exercise is less important. Moreover, the complexity of the performances of the female athletes in the group is much higher. The need for the interaction of gymnasts with each other makes their performances more vivid and spectacular.

    Features of group exercises

The emergence of group exercises has become one of the stages in the development of rhythmic gymnastics. The first major international group competition was held in 1967. Then they were included in the world championship program. By the way, at that first start, the USSR national team won.

There are five gymnasts in the group and, accordingly, five objects are used. In this case, it is not at all necessary that all objects will be the same. A combination is possible. For example, three hoops and two clubs or three ribbons and two skipping ropes, as was the case at the London Olympics. This makes the program only more complex and effective. That is why, as a rule, the competitive program includes exercises with one and with different objects.

Personal versus group exercise - which is harder?

Group work is not suitable for every gymnast. For this, the athlete must have certain personal qualities. First of all, it is responsibility and communication skills. A girl should be able to work in a team and feel her partners.

The gymnasts performing in the group have a huge responsibility, because they answer not only to themselves, but also to the whole team. While a small blot can be excusable in personal exercises, making the same mistake every gymnast in the group will almost certainly cost them a medal.

During the performance of the group, the judges pay attention not only to the complexity of the elements, but also to the synchronism of their implementation. Throws must be made simultaneously and to the same height, objects must not be allowed to collide, it is necessary to adhere to the rules of construction. Another important requirement is that gymnasts performing in a group must have a similar appearance. This is achieved with the same swimwear, hair, makeup.

Rhythmic gymnastics- one of the most spectacular and graceful sports, the essence of which is to perform gymnastic and dance exercises. Exercises can be performed both with the use of objects (hoop, ball, skipping rope, ribbon, clubs), and without it. Rhythmic gymnastics is an Olympic sport.

Gymnasts should have good flexibility, stretching, high push, slim figure, good coordination of movements. But even if a gymnast does not possess all these qualities, almost everything can be achieved through regular training and under the supervision of a good trainer.

The history of the emergence and development of rhythmic gymnastics

Rhythmic gymnastics is considered a young sport, it appeared thanks to the masters of the Mariinsky Theater. In 1913, at the St. P.F. Lesgaft, the Higher School of the Art Movement was opened. Before joining this school, all teachers of this school had their own unique experience in teaching aesthetic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, dance gymnastics or free dance. The combination of all these styles into one gave a powerful impetus to the emergence of rhythmic gymnastics.

In 1941, the first championship of Leningrad in rhythmic gymnastics was held. Later, all Soviet sports and rhythmic gymnastics were waiting for stagnation in development due to the Great Patriotic War. But already in 1945, the first rhythmic gymnastics section was created, later transformed into the USSR Federation. The further development of rhythmic gymnastics took place at an incredible speed, involving more and more participants.

In 1948, the first USSR championship in rhythmic gymnastics was held. Since 1949, these championships have been held annually. Later, the USSR Cup (1965) and the All-Union children's competitions (1966) appeared.

After gymnasts began to go outside the USSR to perform, rhythmic gymnastics received recognition from the International Gymnastics Federation and officially began to be considered a sport.

In 1960, the first official meeting took place in Sofia: Bulgaria - USSR - Czechoslovakia, and 3 years later the first official international competition, called the European Cup, was held in Budapest.

In 1967, a fundamentally new team form appeared in the world rhythmic gymnastics - the competition in group exercises. In the same year, the first world championship in group exercises took place in Copenhagen.

1980 was a turning point for rhythmic gymnastics, after the completion of the Olympic Games in Moscow, at the IOC Congress it was decided to include this sport in the program of the Olympic Games. The Olympic history of rhythmic gymnastics begins in 1984.

    Rhythmic Gymnastics Rules

As mentioned above, performances can be with or without apparatus, but in recent years there have been no performances without apparatus in world-class competitions. In group exercises, one or two types of objects must be used at the same time.

All exercises are accompanied by soundtracks. The choice of music depends entirely on the wishes of the gymnast and the coach. But each exercise should be 75 to 90 seconds long. Rhythmic gymnastics competitions are held on a gymnastic carpet measuring 13x13 meters.

Rhythmic gymnastics performances are evaluated on a twenty-point system. The performances are evaluated by three teams of judges:

    • Difficulty (D) is evaluated by two subgroups of judges - D1 (2 judges, evaluate the technique of execution) and D2 (2 judges, evaluate the technique of working with the apparatus). When calculating the score, the arithmetic mean of the teams D1 and D2 is taken into account.
    • Artistry and choreography (A) are evaluated by 4 judges.
    • Execution (E) is evaluated by 4 judges. They remove points for mistakes.

At any competition, a coordinator judge must be present, who monitors the formal side of the performance.

    The final grade is calculated using the formula: Grade = (D1 + D2) / 2 + A + E

    Rhythmic gymnastics equipment

Skipping rope There are hemp or synthetic ropes. The rope should be proportional to the height of the gymnast and should not have any handles; instead, one or two knots are tied at the ends.

Hoop for rhythmic gymnastics. There are wooden or synthetic hoops. The inner diameter must be between 80 and 90 cm, and the minimum weight is 300 g.

Ball for rhythmic gymnastics. There are rubber or synthetic balls. The diameter of the ball is approximately 18-20 cm. The weight must be at least 400 grams.

Clubs for rhythmic gymnastics (chacot clubs) made of plastic or rubber (previously gymnasts used wooden clubs). Velvet handles are allowed in clubs. The length of the clubs should be between 40-50 cm.

Performing with ribbon in rhythmic gymnastics. The ribbon itself can be satin or other similar material. Length not less than 6 m (made from one piece). Weight is not less than 35 gr. The stick can be made of wood or plastic. Its length should be from 50 to 60 cm, and its diameter should be 1 cm at its widest point.

How to come up with a name and motto for a team for a sporting event

The name should correspond not only to the type of competition, but also to the character of the group as a whole. It should lift the spirit and unite the competitors. The motto helps the team to show their advantages to others.

    1. Initials.
    2. This is ideal for those whose team includes both men and women. As a rule, such a name not only reflects the character of all participants, but also makes everyone feel needed, to bring something of their own into the game. All names with a generalizing addition at the end or at the beginning can serve as a motto.

    3. Celebrity names.
    4. More than once it was possible to meet such detachments of "stars" who definitely felt confident. Now this idea has faded a little. If you decide on such a plan, then remember that a celebrity must be chosen in your sport or industry, as the team will "follow" its example. The ideal slogan would be a quote from a chosen famous person, but in most cases there is no such quote and teams are forced to take just an interesting statement about their sport.

    5. Dignity.
    6. If you are thinking about how to rally athletes using name and language, then look at the benefits of a team. Give each participant a piece of paper and a pen and have them write down their own or someone else's. Choose the most interesting ones, arrange them in an attractive order, leave only the first letters - it's done. Explaining abbreviations can be a motto, so be sure to rhyme well with the team characterization.

    7. Vice versa.
    8. If you have already seen a name suitable for a team, but it is already being used by rivals, do not frown. Find common command names and read them in reverse. The motto, of course, on the contrary, you cannot read, so you need to invent it yourself.

    9. Captain.

Since the captain is a leader and an example to follow, it is quite possible to use his last name as the name of the team. The speeches of such commands can be different: both comic and serious.

    Rhythmic gymnastics. Description, development history

Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport in which various gymnastic and dance exercises are performed to music without objects or with objects (ribbons, jump ropes, hoops, clubs, balls).
Lately, no apparatus performances have been held in world class competitions. In group performances, either two types of objects are used simultaneously (for example, hoops and balls) or one type (five balls, five pairs of clubs). The winners are determined in the all-around, in individual events and in group exercises.
All exercises are accompanied by musical accompaniment. Previously, they performed with a piano or one instrument. Orchestral phonograms are now used. The choice of music depends on the wishes of the gymnast and the coach. But each exercise should be at least 1 minute 15 seconds and no more than one and a half minutes. Competitions are held on a gymnastic carpet measuring 13x13 meters. Classic all-around (4 exercises) is an Olympic discipline. In addition to the all-around, gymnasts performing in the individual championship traditionally compete for sets of awards in certain types of exercises (except for the Olympic Games).
Recently, performances are graded on a twenty-point system. One of the most spectacular and graceful sports. In the USSR, rhythmic gymnastics as a sport emerged and developed in the 1940s. Since 1984 - an Olympic sport. Until recently, an exclusively female sport, however, from the end of the 20th century, thanks to the efforts of Japanese gymnasts, competitions were also held between men.

    History

Rhythmic gymnastics is a fairly young sport that owes its appearance to the ballet masters of the renowned Mariinsky Theater. For a relatively short period of its existence, this sport has won worldwide recognition and has numerous fans around the world.
In 1913, a higher school of art movement was opened at the PF Lesgaft Leningrad Institute of Physical Culture. Her first teachers were Rosa Varshavskaya, Elena Gorlova, Anastasia Nevinskaya, Alexandra Semenova-Naipak. All these teachers, before joining the GSHHG, had their experience in teaching: "aesthetic gymnastics" - Francois Delsarte, "rhythmic gymnastics" - Emile Jacques del Crozat, "dance gymnastics" - Georges Deminy and "free dance" - Isadora Duncan. The merger of all these areas of gymnastics contributed to the emergence of this graceful sport.
In April 1941, the first championship of Leningrad in rhythmic gymnastics was organized and conducted by graduates and teachers of the school. In the 40s, the development of rhythmic gymnastics, as well as all Soviet sports, practically stopped due to the Great Patriotic War.
In 1948, the first USSR championship in rhythmic gymnastics was held. In 1945, the All-Union Section of Rhythmic Gymnastics was created, which was transformed in 1963 into the Federation of the USSR. In the late 1940s, a classification program and competition rules were developed. And then the development of this sport proceeded with extraordinary speed, encompassing an increasing number of young participants.
Since 1949, USSR championships have been held annually, since 1965 - competitions for the USSR Cup in rhythmic gymnastics, since 1966 - all-Union children's competitions. Lyubov Denisova (coach Y. Shishkareva) became the first USSR champion in 1949 in Kiev. And in 1954 the first masters of sports appeared. Gymnastics begin to travel outside the USSR with demonstration performances in Belgium, France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia.
After that, rhythmic gymnastics was recognized as a sport by the International Gymnastics Federation. In 1960, the first official international meeting was held in Sofia: Bulgaria - USSR - Czechoslovakia, and 3 years later, on December 7-8, 1963, the first official international competition called the European Cup was held in Budapest.
Summing up, it was found that gymnasts took part not only from Europe, and then it was decided to consider these competitions the first world championship, and its winner - Muscovite Lyudmila Savinkova - the first world champion in rhythmic gymnastics. In Budapest, the competitions were held according to the rules adopted in the USSR, but only according to an arbitrary program.
In 1967, a fundamentally new team form appeared in the world rhythmic gymnastics - the competition in group exercises. In 1967, the first world championship in group exercises took place in Copenhagen. At the same time, the Soviet team won gold medals. Since 1978, European championships have been held. In Madrid, Soviet gymnast Galima Shugurova becomes the owner of the European crown. In the period from 1963 to 1991, the world championships were held every two years in odd years, and in even years, from 1978 to 1992, the European championships were held. Since 1992, the World and European Championships have been held annually.
1980 - became a turning point for rhythmic gymnastics. After the end of the Olympic Games in Moscow, at the IOC Congress, it was decided to include this sport in the program of the Olympic Games. The Olympic history of rhythmic gymnastics begins in 1984, when Canadian Lori Fang won the first Olympic gold in Los Angeles.
Four years later, Marina Lobach became the Olympic champion in Seoul, Alexandra Timoshenko won in Barcelona, in Atlanta - Ekaterina Serebryanskaya, in Sydney - Yulia Barsukova, in Athens - Alina Kabaeva. Since the Olympic Games in Atlanta, rhythmic gymnastics has been represented entirely by two sections: individual and group competitions.

    Scoring system and judging

The International Gymnastics Federation changed the grading system in 2001, 2003 and 2005 in order to emphasize the technical elements and reduce the subjectivity of the grades. Until 2001, the assessment was set on a 10-point scale, in 2003 it was changed to a 30-point scale and to a 20-point scale in 2005.

It should be noted that the assessment of the results of performances in this sport is an extremely subjective thing. More than once there have been serious scandals and even disqualifications of judges due to unequal treatment of athletes.
One of the most notorious incidents occurred at the European Championship in Zaragoza in 2000 with Elena Vitrichenko. Because of this, questions have been repeatedly raised about changing the refereeing procedure or removing this sport from the Olympic program.
Rhythmic gymnastics was not spared by the problem of doping drugs. They are not taken for endurance or muscle gain. The main problem of gymnasts is being overweight. Therefore, the main drugs used are diuretics, which, in turn, are prohibited by the anti-doping committee.

    Features of rhythmic gymnastics classes

It is advisable to start the first steps in rhythmic gymnastics at 3-5 years old, because the child's body at this age is much more susceptible to the development of flexibility, coordination and speed of movements. The main qualities of a gymnast are willpower, endurance and plasticity. As a rule, already at the age of 14-16, many athletes have to part with gymnastics or switch to sports ballet. Only a few gymnasts continue their sports careers until the age of 20-22.
If we compare rhythmic gymnastics with artistic gymnastics, then rhythmic gymnastics is a safer and more accessible sport. However, rather high demands are made on the appearance of athletes. More recently, rhythmic gymnastics has begun to transform into aerobics and fitness, so many athletes can continue their lives in sports. In sports aerobics, most of the participants are former gymnasts. Rhythmic gymnastics develops flexibility, endurance, dexterity, disciplines a person, improving his body, teaches him to master it beautifully and gracefully, strengthens a sense of self-confidence, which is very important in today's world.

    Rhythmic gymnastics

Rhythmic gymnastics is one of the most spectacular and graceful sports, the essence of which is to perform gymnastic and dance exercises.

The International Federation of Gymnastics (FR. Federation Internationale de Gymnastique, FIG or English. International Federation of Gymnastics, IFG) is a federation of gymnastic sports, including rhythmic gymnastics. This organization is engaged in the development of regulations and rules for performances in rhythmic gymnastics, and also unites national federations (the official website of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics).

In 1960, the first official meeting took place in Sofia: Bulgaria - USSR - Czechoslovakia, and 3 years later, the first official international competition, called the European Cup, was held in Budapest.
