Excerpt from Doumbia, Moussa (Malian footballer)

    - Oh, this is because once upon a time, my family voluntarily left to help other beings who needed our help. This happens often with us. And the departed never return to their home ... This is the right of free choice, so they know what they are doing. That's why Hatis took pity on me ...
    - And who leaves if you can't go back? - Stella was surprised.
    - A lot of ... Sometimes even more than necessary, - Weya saddened. - Once our "wise" were even afraid that we didn’t have enough Wiilis to live on our planet normally ...
    - And what is viilis? - Stella got interested.
    - This is us. Just like you are people, we are viilis. And our planet is called Viilis. - answered Wei.
And only then I suddenly realized that for some reason we hadn't even thought of asking about it earlier! .. But this is the first thing we had to ask about!
    - Have you changed, or have you always been? I asked again.
“Changed, but only on the inside, if that's what you meant,” Weya replied.
A huge, crazy bright, multi-colored bird flew over our heads ... A crown of brilliant orange "feathers" sparkled on its head, and its wings were long and fluffy, as if it were carrying a multi-colored cloud. The bird sat down on a stone and stared very seriously in our direction ...
    - And why is she examining us so closely? - Shivering, asked Stella, and it seemed to me that she had another question in her head - "has this" bird "already had dinner today?" ...
The bird leapt cautiously closer. Stella squeaked and jumped back. The bird took another step ... She was three times larger than Stella, but did not seem aggressive, but rather curious.
    - Did she like me, or what? Stella pouted. - Why doesn't she come to you? What does she want from me? ..
It was funny to watch how the little girl could hardly restrain herself so as not to launch a bullet far away from here. Apparently, a beautiful bird did not arouse much sympathy in her ...
Suddenly the bird spread its wings and a blinding radiance emanated from them. Slowly, slowly, a fog began to swirl over the wings, similar to the one that waved over Weiya when we saw her for the first time. The fog swirled and thickened more and more, becoming like a dense curtain, and from this curtain huge, almost human eyes looked at us ...

Moussa Doumbia is a Malian footballer, midfielder of Rostov and the Mali national team. He is a graduate of the Malian club "Real" from the city of Bamako. In 2012 he made his debut in this team and soon won silver medals of the championship with it. Since 2014, Moussa has been defending Rostov's colors, playing as a right attacking midfielder. He is a player of the Mali national team, but is rarely called here due to the high competition in attack.

    • Full name: Moussa Doumbia
    • Date and place of birth: August 15, 1994, Bamako (Mali)
    • Role: midfielder

    Moussa Doumbia's club career

Moussa is a graduate of the Jean-Marc Guillau Academy from Mali. He started his professional career at Real Madrid from his hometown of Bamako. In the 2012/13 season, he won silver medals in the local championship, after which he played in the CAF Champions League, where he reached the 1/8 finals. In total, he played 22 matches in his home club, after which he moved to Russia.

For the first time, CSKA showed interest in the player, which had a positive experience of working with players from these regions. However, soon the current winner of the Russian Cup "Rostov" announced the ongoing negotiations with the player. On August 4, 2014, the Malian joined the Rostov team, and exactly ten days later he made his debut in the Premier League, having played one half against Lokomotiv. Doumbia got off to a bad start with the Yellow-Blues, not scoring a single goal in 20 games. Basically, he appeared for substitutions or spent one half, after which he was replaced. He scored his first goal in Russia in the youth championship match against CSKA (3-1). He also scored an assist in the match against Kuban (2-1).

In the summer of 2015, Dumbia was close to leaving Rostov. Clubs from the second French league were interested in him, but Kurban Berdyev, who came to the team, convinced the player to stay. In the first match of the new season, Moussa scored a goal, hitting the goal of Terek (1-1). Then he was injured, because of which he was forced to miss five rounds. On October 26 he scored the second goal for Rostov in the confrontation with Lokomotiv (0-2). In early November, he was injured in training, which is why he was forced to finish the autumn part of the championship ahead of schedule. In the 2015/16 season, together with Rostov, he became the silver medalist of the Russian championship.

    Moussa Doumbia's international career

On June 29, 2014, he made his debut in the Mali national team, playing against China in the city of Shenzhen. Due to the high competition in the attacking line, he was no longer called up to the national team, yielding to more skilled footballers from the Western European championships.

    - Moussa, a rhetorical question. Is football in Mali the number one sport?

Not only in Mali, but throughout Africa. Nothing beats football. Wherever you go in Africa, you can see the same picture: on the playgrounds, on patches of land, on the sand - everywhere people of different ages are chasing a ball.

    - There was no alternative to football?

I can’t imagine any other occupation for myself. From the earliest years, when I went to school, football settled in my life once and for all. There were no other joys. I don’t know what other sport could be done in Africa. I went through the school of one of the most famous training centers - the Guillau academy, which was organized by a former French player. This academy is known all over the world, from there came Yaya and Kolo Toure, Ebue, Gervinho, Dindan ...

    - Where is this center?

Previously, from 2002 to 2007, he operated in Ivory Coast, then moved to Mali.

    - Who was an example for you in football?

My father is Aruna Doumbia. He played a big role in my choice, my dad was a famous football player in the country. I saw his lifestyle, watched matches and wanted to be the same.

My father had tempting offers to play in a serious professional club. But at the beginning of his career in the Ivory Coast championship, where he played, there was an accident: dad fought for a riding ball and received a strong blow from the back in the neck. He lost consciousness and passed away five days later.

    - You have a big family?

It is so accepted in our country that not only siblings, but also cousins are included in a single African family. So I have a very, very large family, especially considering that my dad is from the neighboring Ivory Coast, my mom is from Mali. Some of the relatives are Ivorians. But there are five of us with siblings.

    - Are you married?

While a free man. But I'm not going to remain a bachelor for a long time, I have a girlfriend.

    - The coat of arms of the Malian capital Bamako depicts three crocodiles. Does this mean that walking in Bamako is unsafe due to the abundance of reptiles?

Bamako stands on the Niger River, where crocodiles are indeed found. But the city is safe, you can be sure of that. In Bamako, the tourist will see the elite quarters where wealthy people live. But there are also poor areas. The difference is huge.

    - If you invite, for example, the captain of Arsenal Vladimir Gabulov, what will you show him?

I would start my excursion from one of the villages, visited at different times by famous football players, including Zinedine Zidane. It is necessary to feel the contrast. Often people in the village have nothing to put on the table, they drag out a miserable existence. The guests provided assistance - humanitarian and material. And then I would invite you to see the most picturesque and respectable part of Bamako.

    - Does Moussa himself do charity work?

Yes, both in Mali and the Ivory Coast. Both countries are close to me. As soon as the opportunity arises, I help poor families.

    - How popular is your name at home? The encyclopedia suggests that there was such a president, Moussa Traore, who ruled Mali for more than 20 years.

A lot of people bear this name, Mousse can be found at every step. As for the president, I have only heard about him, but my parents lived during his reign.

    - There is a joke that Arsenal, in your person, acquired two well-known legionnaires from Africa at once - Ahmed Musa and Seydou Doumbia.

    - (Laughs) Of course I know about her. This is such an old joke. From the first day in "Rostov" Kurban Bekievich (Berdyev - approx. ed.) everyone made fun of Kalachev. In general, almost all the jokes addressed to me are related to the fact that I kind of personify two popular players at once. I like these jokes, I play along in such cases.

I personally don't know Ahmed Musa, but I know Seydu well. This is a very modest guy, friendly, he always has a good mood. I also know that he is willing to do charity work and advises young players in Africa.

    - Arsenal fans celebrate with what passion and dedication you play on the field. Is that what Doumbia is all about?

Thanks. It is with great pleasure that I go to the Tula stadium, it seems to me that there are incredible fans here. Spectators behave unusual for other stadiums - with songs, chants. We footballers hear it all. This is rare: the team is near the relegation zone, and the fans are supporting us with such enthusiasm. They give us strength, keep the team spirit. When I scored Tom's goal, which consolidated our success, this energy carried me forward. I share my joy with all Arsenal fans.

    - In March there was a match with Zenit. What was not enough for Arsenal not to lose in St. Petersburg?

It's no secret that Zenit consists of high-level footballers. This is the Russian top club. Success in such matches brings double motivation, we had a good first half, we did not allow St. Petersburgers a lot. Unfortunately, the outcome of the match was decided in several controversial episodes. This is not an attempt to justify defeat by misinterpreting those moments, but we did our best to achieve a positive result.

    - You know well Russian football... How do you see the ending of the current championship?

You need to use the slightest chance, concentrate on the game, go from match to match. It was repeated more than once, but each new match is like a final. We have enough skill and experience to show our best and keep Thule in the Premier League.

    - Earlier you met with Arsenal. What is left in the memory?

Two years ago, I played in one of the matches with the Tula for only a few minutes. Arsenal then won in Rostov-on-Don - 1: 0. Last fall I watched the Rostov - Arsenal match from the bench. My current team opened the score, and Rostov put a lot of effort into leveling and taking the lead. Then they scored two more goals, but the 4: 1 result did not reflect the real balance of power. We had to get nervous then. From that game, I saw the potential of Tula.

    - Do you still have sympathy for Rostov?

Berdyev became a second father for me, he helped me realize my abilities, worked with me individually for a long time. Friends remained in Rostov, including Dima Poloz and Denis Terentyev.

    - Who did you make friends with at Arsenal?

We have dinner with many guys, I can’t single out someone. At this time, Jerson Vergara walked past us into the cafeteria at the club base. Vergara is a great guy! We have no groupings, nationality does not matter. I understand many words from Russian, but I cannot speak yet. We have collected players from Europe, Africa, South America. They learn from me a lot of new things about my past life and my country, and I from them.

    - Do you have personal fans?

There are friends in Rostov-on-Don, if they want to watch my game at Arsenal, I accept them. A few days ago, a fan Dmitry came and met him at Rostov, although he did not have time to play against Tomsk. But we spent the weekend together. This man helped legionnaires from Africa - me, Lolo, Bashtush, Kanga - to adapt in Russia.

    - Can sorcerers in African teams influence the results?

    - (Laughs)... This is the same stereotype as bears on the streets of Russian cities! A national team from Africa would have become world champion long ago if that helped. Sorcerers, sorcerers, psychology advisors - all this adds exoticism. Well, someone can use it to intimidate. There are many talented players in Africa, they lack support and financial conditions. Not sorcerers, but hard work can help win something serious.

    - The progress of African football is obvious. Will there come a time when the representative of the black continent wins the world championship?

I find it difficult to answer such a question. There is a lack of qualified managers who would take over management functions. There is a lot to learn from the Europeans in terms of infrastructure development and youth football.

    - Does the Mali national team still have chances to get to Russia next year?

We are still in the race, the whole fight is ahead. But so far my team is inferior in the group to the teams of Cote d'Ivoire, Gabon and Morocco.

    - Do you play for the national team with the same passion as for the club?

I always come to the national team with great desire, I play not only with my head, but also with my heart. I love Mali fans, a lot of spectators gather at the stadium. Any victory brings us great joy.

    - What do you lack in Russia for complete happiness?

I didn't think about it, because I feel very comfortable here. For three years in Russia. This is where my successful career began, Russia is my second home. At any time after my career, I will gladly come back to your country alone or with friends.

    - Did you manage to see Tulu?

Unfortunately, there was no time to visit museums and the Kremlin. I just walked around the city between workouts. I liked Tula.

    - Did you have a chance to play in France?

Had invitations from French league clubs. Almost considered a Nancy player, but in 2012 they did not agree on the last stage of the transfer. I remember that during the negotiations we were sitting in a room under a large portrait of Michel Platini. I was in Nancy with one leg, but ...

    - Platini was your idol as a child?

I can't say that it was one player. There are a lot of great football players, they motivate, make us develop. From the older generation I admired Zidane, now I really like Hazard. Thanks to Zidane, I got the desire to play at a high level.

    - Do you like someone in the Russian national team?

Of course. Runner! He is a super football player, I love to watch him play.

    - What does Moussa dream of in life?

Any professional footballer wants to play in a big club. I'm not an exception. My dream is to get into a super club, it doesn't matter - in Russia, England or Spain. I want to be in sight, to play in the Champions League or at least in the Europa League.

    - Do they watch your matches for Arsenal at home?

Yes, my whole extended family watches games via the Internet and satellite TV.

    - What is your hobby?

I do not have a hobby. Football is everything to me.

    - What does # 26 on your shirt mean?

Nothing, just took the one that was free.

    - Do you listen to Russian songs?

I like it very much! Sings:"Come on, come on!" Nyusha sings, no?

    - "Mom Lyuba, come on, come on?" Is this silver".

Here, "Silver"! I also love chanson and Russian rap.

    - Would you be pleased to hear a special announcement from the stadium announcer if you also score a goal in Arsenal's home game?

Oh yes, I want to score again, like in the match against Tom. Let's not guess, but when it happens, let them say le phenomene malien across the stadium. “Mali phenomenon” - this is how the fans of the national team call me, excuse my immodesty. However, you can also speak in Russian, I will understand.
