In pairs and women, we have three vacancies each, the dancers have two, and the guys were able to win three at all. However, the overall impression of the championship still remains painful - primarily because of an unsuccessful performance. The fall of the Olympic champion in a free program, in which she frantically tried to catch up with the music, was comparable to a horror movie.
If Alina had saved at least one of the three jumps from falling, then she would have stood on the podium with a silver medal - everything would have been psychologically easier. How could this have happened? There are a complex of reasons: the physical growth of the athlete, fatigue from the Olympic season and the training schedule that has gone awry after returning from Pyeongchang. The absence, which would have shared the burden of responsibility with Alina and withdrew some of the attention, also played a role. It can be argued that in December last year, Zagitova won the Grand Prix final even without Medvedeva. But then only the first half of the season was still going on, Alina was not yet the champion of the country, Europe and the Olympic Games and did not manage to go through a face-to-face confrontation with Evgenia twice. For all the outstanding results of the three adult seasons, Medvedeva also did not do without falls, but this never led her to failure. And it's not just about more experience and a more stable nervous system. None of Medvedeva's six competitive programs during her adult career was staged at such a crazy pace as Zagitova's "Don Quixote". - Yes, I see good prospects. We have the strongest women's single skating team with a huge level of competition. We have every chance to fight and win gold in pair skating - Tarasova and Morozov will progress. That is, already in two forms we are close to gold. In men's single skating, we really let our rivals a little, but there is still optimism. It can be seen that both Misha Kolyada and Dima Aliyev perform the quadruple lutz, show the most difficult jumps, but so far they cannot do them with the proper stability. But I think we can well count on the revival of men's singles skating. In dancing, it will be most difficult to break through the wall, but even there everything is not hopeless - there are chances.

Moreover, we have another talented couple: Sinitsyna and Katsalapov. The guys have enormous potential, but they have lost a lot this season due to their unsuccessful performance at the Russian championship. Hopefully next year they will catch up.

- There is an opinion that the judges at the World Championships in Italy were sometimes too weird. Was there anything out of the ordinary or was it just about the same as usual at such tournaments?
- Everything was in moderation. Probably, this topic could have been talked about when Carolina Costner took first place after the short program, but then she really skated brilliantly. It was a great performance by an outstanding figure skater at home ice... The judges are real people, they could take this into account and add a little to Caroline. But that's okay - it happens at all tournaments. In general, I would say this: whoever dashed off what, in the end got it.
- What particular performance at this World Championship did you remember the most?
- This is definitely Savchenko and Masso. Their free program is a real event! Everything else in this tournament is first and foremost figure skating, and only then something artistic. And this program of the German couple can be called a real art!
