    16.09.2021

The 2016 Rio Olympics gathers a lot of news every day. We are watching the performances of our athletes with anxiety and special pride, we rejoice with them and we all accept defeat with them. But our history keeps a lot of stories, which later become an example of perseverance, perseverance and zeal for many generations to come. And every new day of the current Olympiad adds new ones. We want to remember the most incredible athletes in our country who brought home a record number of gold medals and still remain the undisputed leaders in this championship.

    Latynina Larisa, artistic gymnastics

Larina Latynina is one of the most famous Russian figures in the history of the Olympic Games. To date, she retains the position of the only gymnast to win three Olympics in a row: in Melbourne (1956), in Rome (1960) and in Tokyo (1964). She is a unique athlete who has 18 Olympic medals, among which the largest number of gold medals is 9. Larisa's sports career began in 1950. While still a schoolgirl, Larisa performed the first category in the Ukrainian national team, after which she went to the all-Union championship in Kazan. Thanks to the subsequent intensive training, Latynina in the 9th grade fulfilled the standard of the master of sports. After leaving school, Larisa was sent a call to the all-Union meeting in Bratsevo, where the USSR national team was preparing for the World Festival of Youth and Students in Bucharest. The young athlete passed the qualifying competitions with dignity and after that she received a woolen suit with a white "Olympic" stripe on her neck and the letters "USSR".

Larisa Latynina received her first international gold medals in Romania. And on December 3, 1956, Larisa went to the Olympics in a team with P. Astakhova, L. Kalinina, T. Manina, S. Muratova, L. Egorova. It is worth noting that all the members of the roster made their debut at the Olympics. And there, in Melbourne, Larissa became an absolute Olympic champion... And already in 1964, Larisa Latynina went down in history as the owner of 18 Olympic awards.

    Egorova Lyubov, cross-country skiing

Lyubov Egorova - six-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing (1992 - at distances of 10 and 15 km and as part of the national team, 1994 - at distances of 5 and 10 km and as part of the national team), multiple world champion, winner of the 1993 World Cup ... The athlete was recognized as the best athlete in Russia in 1994.

While still at school, Lyubov discovered an addiction to skiing. Already in the 6th grade, she studied under the guidance of coach Nikolai Kharitonov. She took part in various city competitions many times. At the age of 20, Lyubov became a member of the USSR national team. In 1991, at the World Championships in Cavalese, the first success of the skier happened. Lyubov became the world champion in the relay race, and then showed the best time in the 30 km race. Despite the fact that in the 15-kilometer race the skier came eleventh, already in the relay Egorova overtook all her rivals, and at a distance of 30 km she became the best (time - 1 hour 20 minutes 26.8 seconds) and received gold medal.

In 1992, Lyubov took part in Olympic Games ah in France, where they managed to get a gold medal in the 15 km race. She also won gold in the 10 km race and in the relay. In 1994, in Norway, at the Winter Olympics, Yegorova came first at a distance of 5 km. In the 10 km race, the Russian athlete wrestled with a strong rival from Italy, who gave up only closer to the finish line, allowing Egorova to get the gold. And in the 4x5 km relay, Russian girls showed themselves again and took first place. As a result, in Norwegian Winter Games Lyubov Egorova again becomes a three-time Olympic champion. Upon returning to St. Petersburg, the six-time Olympic champion was greeted with all the honors: Anatoly Sobchak handed the winner the keys to a new apartment, and by the Decree of the President of Russia, the famous racer was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.

    Skoblikova Lydia, speed skating

Lydia Pavlovna Skoblikova - the legendary Soviet speed skater, the only six-time Olympic champion in the history of speed skating, the absolute champion of the 1964 Olympics in Innsbruck. Even at school, Lida was seriously engaged in skiing, participating in the section from the third grade. But after several years of training and persistent practice, skis seemed to Skoblikova too slow a sport. The athlete came to speed skating by accident. One day, a friend of hers, who is engaged in skating, asked her to participate in city competitions with her. Skoblikova had neither experience nor serious preparation, but participation in those competitions turned out to be successful for her, and she took first place.

The first victory of a young speed skater happened in January 1957, in the Russian championship among girls. After this victory, Lydia began to train even harder. And in 1960, in Squaw Valley, at the Winter Olympics, Lydia was able to leave behind all the strong athletes, moreover, she won with a world record. At the same Olympics, the skater managed to get another gold for a distance of three kilometers. And at the Olympic Games in Innsbruck (1964, Austria) Skoblikova showed an incredible result in the history of speed skating, winning all four distances, and at the same time set Olympic records at three (500, 1000 and 1500 m). In the same 1964, Skoblikova convincingly won the World Speed Skating Championship (Sweden), again winning all four distances. Such an achievement (8 gold medals out of 8) cannot be surpassed, it can only be repeated. In 1964 she was awarded the second Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

    Innsbruck, 1964

    Davydova Anastasia, synchronized swimming

Anastasia Davydova is the only athlete in history to win 5 gold Olympic medals, flying the flag of Russia, and the only five-time Olympic champion in the history of synchronized swimming. Initially, Anastasia was engaged in rhythmic gymnastics, but later, with the help of her mother, Davydova began to attend synchronized swimming training. And already in 2000, at the age of 17, Anastasia immediately won the highest award in the group program at the European Championships in Helsinki.

And Anastasia won all her Olympic awards in a duet together with another famous synchronized swimmer - Anastasia Ermakova. At her first Olympic Games, held in Athens, Davydova won two gold medals. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the synchronized swimmers repeated their triumph and won two more gold medals. In 2010 year international federation of water sports recognized Anastasia as the best synchronized swimmer of the decade. The 2012 Olympic Games, which took place in London, made Anastasia Davydova a record holder - she became the only five-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming in history. At the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, she was entrusted to carry the flag of the Russian national team.

    Popov Alexander, swimming

Alexander Popov is a Soviet and Russian swimmer, four-time Olympic champion, six-time world champion, 21-time European champion, legend of Soviet and Russian sports. Alexander got into the sports section by accident: his parents took their son to swim just like that, "for health." And this event turned into incredible victories for Popov in the future. Training more and more fascinated the future champion, taking away everything free time, which negatively affected the studies of the young athlete. But it was too late to quit sports for the sake of grades in school disciplines. At the age of 20, Popov won his first victories, they turned out to be 4 gold medals at once. This happened at the European Championships in 1991, which was held in Athens. He managed to win at distances of 50 and 100 meters in two relay races. This year brought the first victory in a whole series of brilliant achievements of the Soviet swimmer.

Worldwide fame was brought to the swimmer by the 1996 Olympics, held in Atlanta. Alexander snatched two gold medals at 50 and 100 meters. This victory turned out to be especially bright for the reason that it was promised to the American swimmer Gary Hall, who was then in his best shape and bypassed Alexander in preliminary competitions. The Americans were confident of victory, openly stated this in the press, even Bill Clinton and his family came to support their athlete! But the "gold" was not in the hands of Hall, but Popov. The disappointment of the Americans, who had previously relished their victory, was enormous. And then Alexander became a legend.

    Pozdnyakov Stanislav, fencing

Stanislav Alekseevich Pozdnyakov - Soviet and Russian saber fencer, four-time Olympic champion, 10-time world champion, 13-time European champion, five-time World Cup winner, five-time Russian champion (in individual competitions) in saber fencing. As a child, Stanislav was very active - he played football, swam, skated in winter, played hockey. For some time, the young athlete continued to do everything at once, rushing from one sport to another. But once my mother took Pozdnyakov to the Spartak stadium, where the fencing school for children and youth of the Olympic reserve was located. The phrase "Olympic reserve" bribed the parents, and Stanislav began to study there. Under the guidance of the mentor Boris Leonidovich Pisetskiy, Stanislav began to learn the fencing alphabet. The young swordsman showed character in fights and always tried to win by all means.

Pozdnyakov made his first successes at the All-Russian and All-Union level in Novosibirsk, in youth tournaments. Then he made his way to the national team of the United Team of the Independent States and went to Barcelona for his first Olympic Games. And in 1996 in Atlanta he achieved absolute success, having won gold in both individual and team tournaments.

    Tikhonov Alexander, biathlon

Alexander Tikhonov is the pride of world and national sports, a biathlon star, winner of four Olympics, an outstanding champion. With a diagnosis of congenital heart disease, Alexander became an outstanding athlete in our country. Skiing has been present in the life of the future Olympic champion since childhood. An example for four sons was given by parents: mother Nina Evlampievna, who worked as an accountant, and father Ivan Grigorievich, who taught physical education at school. Repeatedly participating in regional ski competitions held among teachers, he became the winner. At the age of 19, Alexander won the junior ski competitions of the union scale at a distance of 10 and 15 km. The year 1966 became very significant in the fate of the athlete, because this year Tikhonov received a leg injury and switched to a biathlon career.

Alexander's debut happened in 1968 in Grenoble, where the Olympic Games were held. The young, unknown athlete wins a silver medal in the 20 km race, losing only half a millimeter to Norwegian Magna Solberg in shooting - the price of two penalty minutes and a gold medal. After this performance, Alexander is entrusted with the first stage in the relay, which was supposed to run by the Olympic champion - the famous Vladimir Melanin. Thanks to confident shooting and daring running, Tikhonov receives the title Olympic champion! The Olympic Games in Lake Placid in 1980 were the fourth and last for Tikhonov. At the opening ceremony, Alexander carried the banner of his country. It was this Olympics that became the golden crown of his long journey in sports. Then Tikhonov became the first four-time winner of the Olympic Games in the history of Russian sports, after which, at the age of 33, he was forced to decide to end his sports career.

The championship of Russia went on hiatus, the current position in the table is memorized by everyone. Sportbox.ru decided to look a little ahead and, having studied the final tables of previous tournaments, estimate the number of points, which, in theory, should be enough to: a) stay in the Premier League; b) qualify for the European Cups; c) become a champion.

Spartak - Zenit / Photo: Vasily Ponomarev

The basis was taken from 12 championships held under the auspices of the RFPL, that is, since 2002. The 2011/12 season, which was held due to the transition to the “autumn-spring” system in an unusual format, was left behind: the teams played 44 rounds.

In order not to fly out, it will be enough ...

from 27 to 33 points... As a result, three teams scored 32 points at once:, and. According to additional indicators, the Samara and Vladivostok residents remained in the elite, but the Krasnodar players flew out, but went down in history as a team that dropped to the lower division with a record number of points. On the other side of the rating -: in 2008, 27 points were enough for them to keep their registration at the top.

If we shift these figures to the current season, then only the first eight teams can feel safe, while the rest - from Rubin, Amkar and Dynamo (20) to Mordovia (14) - will have a difficult second part championship.

    To avoid "joints", enough ...

the same 33 points... The same unprecedented year 2007 creates statistical bad taste. Here it is necessary to make a reservation that the history of play-offs in the Russian championship dates back to the transitional season 2011/12, when it was decided: "spring-autumn" - no, "autumn-spring" - yes. The history of "joints" is only 4 years old, but we decided to investigate all the championships, taking into account the teams that were in 13th and 14th places even before the introduction of the famous rule. As a result, 2007 is again the benchmark. Under the current order, Krylya (32) and Luch (32) would have had to participate in the transitional games, but 33 points would have avoided them.

To get into the Europa League, you need to dial ...

from 49 to 55 points. Again, we project the current realities onto the past: from Russia to the Europa League, the 3rd and 4th teams are likely to get into the Europa League. The most stubborn, when Krylia Sovetov also scored 56 points, thereby guaranteeing themselves participation in the second most important club tournament in Europe. A little was not enough, the players of which fell short of Samara and St. Petersburg by only 2 points. As a result, the threshold was set at “55”, since this amount would also be enough for a ticket to European cups.

And with the smallest baggage, Spartak players were selected for Europe.

To qualify for the Champions League, you will need ...

from 55 to 61 points... Here the landmark was established quite recently - last season, when and fought for a ticket. Both teams scored 60 points, but the second place was taken by the army team, since they had more victories in their assets.

If we talk about the lowest threshold, then 55 points were enough to get into the most prestigious tournament of the Old World.

To win the championship, it is enough to earn ...

from 59 to 67 points... Paradox: in order to put on gold medals, and not even 66 were rescued - he had to play a "golden match" with the same army men. Thus, over these two years, the scoring framework has been established for the teams that set themselves the highest goal.

If we superimpose the statistics of past years on the current season, then in order to guarantee victory in the championship, CSKA needs to score 30 points out of 36 possible in the remaining rounds, - 33, Loko - and even win 12 victories in 12 rounds. However, it is obvious that given the general instability of the teams, a much smaller harvest will probably be enough for a hypothetical winner.

The Russian Football Championship (Russian Football Premier League) is the top division among all professional leagues in Russian football... 16 teams take part in the tournament. The first three league places allow clubs to play in the UEFA Champions League, while the fourth and fifth places give tickets to the Europa League. Every year, the last two teams leave the RFPL and go to the National Football League (NFL).

The current champion of the Premier League is Zenit St. Petersburg.

Russian football champions table for all years since 1992

For 2019, 27 championship draws were held.

    List of all champions:

    • Spartak - 10
    • CSKA - 6
    • Zenith - 5
    • Locomotive - 3
    • Spartak-Alania - 1
    • Ruby - 2

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, starting in 1991, each former Soviet republic organized its own independent football championship. In Russia, the Higher League was also formed, in which 6 clubs from the former USSR championship played (Spartak Moscow, Dynamo Moscow, Torpedo Moscow, CSKA Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow and Spartak Vladikavkaz) and 14 teams from the lower divisions (2nd and 3rd ).

20 teams took part in the first championships, but in 1993 there were 18 of them, and in 1994 - 16. Since then, the Major League (later the Premier League) consisted of 16 clubs, with the exception of the experiment in 1996 and 1997 with 18 participants.

The first Russian football championships were dominated by Spartak Moscow. The People's Team won 9 of the 10 first league draws. The only club that managed to break the dominance of the red-whites in the 90s was Spartak-Alania (Vladikavkaz). Lokomotiv managed to win the title three times, and CSKA - 6.

In 2007, Zenit St. Petersburg became the strongest club in Russia for the first time in its history, winning gold medals in the Premier League. In 2008, Rubin Kazan became the champion of Russia.

The next season of the Russian Football Premier League kicks off today. To the beginning football season we have prepared a selection of 10 records that will be remembered for the previous draws of our football championship.

    Most productive match

The fans who watched the Asmaral - Zenit match on August 6, 1992 saw 11 goals. The footballers from the Moscow region beat the Petersburgers with a score of 8: 3. However, history has decided the fate of the clubs in a way that hardly anyone could have imagined that day. Asmaral, having changed several names, became the Presnya club, but was disbanded in 2005. And Zenit ... well, you know.

    Biggest win

The record for the difference in the score was set on November 3, 2000 by the players of Moscow Lokomotiv, who defeated Uralan from Elista with a score of 9: 0. Outsider "Uralan" by this time was playing out a failed season, so he was not very motivated. But no one expected this either. The then coach of the Elista team, Boris Bunyak, said after the match: “It's very difficult to say something - it's a shame.”

Among Muscovites, Dmitry Loskov scored a hat-trick in that match (already in the first half), Dmitry Bulykin scored twice and Oleg Terekhin, Vladimir Maminov, Vadim Evseev and Igor Cherevchenko scored once.

Loskov, Bulykin, Terekhin, Maminov, Evseev and Cherevchenko

Goals scored and conceded this season

In the 1995 season, Spartak players scored 76 goals against their opponents. Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod players scored the least in a season in 2000: they upset their opponents only 16 times.

And the players of the Moscow Lokomotiv conceded the least of all during the season: in 2002, they allowed their opponents to score only 14 times. The worst result is with Tyumen: 89 (!) Goals conceded in 1998.

    Absolute anti-record

Nobody left the statistics lovers with so many achievements with a minus sign as the players of Tyumen in 1998. 89 goals conceded in a season, 29 defeats, of which 18 were in a row (with a goal difference of 6-53)! Oh, and it was hard for the Tyumen fans that year ...

By the way, the Tyumen team took part in another record: Spartak scored 7 unanswered goals for them, and this victory was considered the biggest until Uralan was hit by Lokomotiv.

    Top scorer of the championships

Oleg Veretennikov, who played for Rotor Volgograd, was the one who grieved most of all in the Russian championships: he scored 143 years in the national championship matches. At the same time, Oleg did not play in the Russian national team.

In second place is Alexander Kerzhakov (129 goals), behind him is Dmitry Kirichenko (125), in fourth position with 120 goals is Dmitry Loskov. It is noteworthy that never in history has the top scorer of the season become a champion with his team.

Record holder for the number of champion titles

"Spartak" Dmitry Ananko became the champion of Russia nine times. In general, the list of record holders, for obvious reasons, is dominated by red and white. 8 titles for Andrey Tikhonov, 7 for Dmitry Khlestov, 6 for Vadim Evseev (4 in Spartak and 2 in Lokomotiv), Valery Kechinov, Nikolai Pisarev, Yegor Titov, Alexander Filimonov and Ilya Tsymbalar. Of the players who did not play for Spartak, only Sergei Semak is in the list of the most titled, who was the champion of the country 5 times: once with CSKA and twice with Rubin and Zenit.

    Dmitry Ananko

    The roughest player

For a long time, among the fans, Yuri Kovtun, who played for Dynamo and Spartak, was considered a symbol of rough play for some reason. However, according to statistics, the record holder in this non-prestigious nomination is defender Deividas Semberas, now playing for Alania, and in the past - a player of Dynamo and CSKA. On account of his 96 yellow and 10 red cards. However, Šemberas has more pleasant achievements. He was recognized as the best defender and is the leader in the number of games in the foreign championship.

    Deividas Semberas

    The driest goalkeepers

The leader in terms of the number of "zero" matches played is the legendary "boss", Sergei Ovchinnikov, who defended the gates of Moscow "Lokomotiv" and "Dynamo". He held dry in 129 games. In second place with 116 games is Zenit goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev. Third (113 games) - Alexander Filimonov, who played in Fakel, Tekstilshchik, Spartak Moscow, Uralan and FC Moskva. The goalkeeper of the national team Igor Akinfeev is getting close to the top three, he did not allow to hit his goal in 101 games of the championship.

He will note that Sergey Ovchinnikov and Alexander Filimonov may well lose their positions, since they have already finished their careers.

But in terms of the average number of goals conceded per game, former Spartak player Stanislav Cherchesov is in the lead. His indicator is 0.615 goals per match.

    Sergey Ovchinnikov and Stanislav Cherchesov

    The youngest

"Spartak" Alexander Rebko became the youngest participant in the Russian championship. He entered the field on July 10, 2002 at the age of 16 years and 78 days. Another red-and-white player, Zhano Ananidze (recently loaned to Rostov) became the youngest scorer. On October 18, 2009 at the age of 17 years and 8 days, Jeannot scored against Lokomotiv.

    The oldest

Zenit player Anatoly Davydov in the match against Chornomorets Novorossiysk on September 3, 1997 entered the field at the age of 43 years and 295 days. And the oldest goal scorer for more than 13 years is the forward of "Saturn" Sergei Natalushko. On May 17, 2000, when he hit the gates of Lokomotiv Moscow, he was 39 years old and 222 days old.

MOSCOW, May 13 - R-Sport... The Russian football championship in the 2016/17 season, three rounds before its completion, was won by Spartak Moscow, which won the gold medals of the tournament for the tenth time. Silver and bronze medalists will be determined later.

Below is background information on the history and regulations of the tournament.

After the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the former Soviet republics began to host independent football championships. Six Russian teams competed in the highest league of the USSR football championship in 1991 - CSKA, Spartak, Torpedo, Dynamo, Lokomotiv (all - Moscow), as well as Spartak from Vladikavkaz. That number of teams was not enough to make up the league.

In 1992 in established Russian Premier League 20 clubs competed - 11 teams from the first allied league and 3 teams from the second were added to the six major league teams. The tournament was held in two stages from March 23 to November 10. At the first, the participants were divided into two groups of ten teams. On the second, the first eight teams in the groups continued to fight for medals, and the rest - for 9-20 places. At the second stage, the teams were counted the results of the matches they played against each other in the groups of the first stage. Moscow “Spartak” became the champion.

V the 1993 Russian Football Championship already 18 teams took part. According to the regulations, the tournament was held in one group in a two-round system. At the end of the season, the two last-placed teams moved to the first league, and the 14th to 16th places took part in the transition tournament along with the three winning teams from the first league zones. In the Major League, the teams that took the first three places in the transition tournament remained. Spartak became the champion again.

In 1994, the number of participants in the Russian football championship was again reduced to 16 teams. The tournament was held in one group in a two-round system. At the end of the season, the two teams that took the last places (Togliatti “Lada” and “Dynamo” from Stavropol) moved to the first league, in their place came teams from the first league, which took 1st and 2nd places. Spartak became the champion for the third time in a row.

In the fourth Russian football championship As in the previous one, 16 teams took part, it was also held in two rounds. However, the scoring system was changed: now, instead of two points, three were given for a victory, for a draw and a loss - one and zero, respectively. The number of teams leaving the league has also changed, since the next year it was decided to again increase the number of participants to 18. At the end of the season, the team that took the last place (Dynamo-Gazovik, Tyumen) moved to the first league, and teams came to its place from the first league, taking 1-3rd places. The Vladikavkaz club "Spartak-Alania", of which he was a coach, became the champion of Russia.

In the fifth Russian football championship, which took place from March to November 1996, the composition of the participants was again expanded to 18 teams. The rest of the tournament format remains the same. At the end of the season, three worst teams left the league (Yekaterinburg Uralmash, Energiya-Tekstilshchik from Kamyshin, and Lada), and three prize-winners of the first league received the right to play in the top division for the next season.

As a result of 34 rounds, Spartak Moscow and Alania Vladikavkaz scored 72 points each. According to the regulations, other indicators of the teams' performance were not taken into account - an additional "golden match" was envisaged. Spartak became the champion for the fourth time, having won in St. Petersburg at the Petrovsky stadium with a score of 2: 1. Andrey Tikhonov also scored goals for the Moscow team, Anatoly Kanishchev for Alania.

In the sixth Russian football championship 18 clubs also took part, which determined the winner on a two-round system - in 34 rounds. The three worst teams (Voronezh "Fakel", Nizhny Novgorod "Lokomotiv" and "KAMAZ" from Naberezhnye Chelny) were relegated to a lower league, from where only one club came, since the next season was again supposed to hold a championship among 16 teams. Subsequently, the number of tournament participants did not change anymore. Spartak became the champion of Russia.

In 1998 7th Russian Championship took place from March 28 to October 30. During the tournament, Zenit St. Petersburg was leading by five points, confidently taking first place after the first round, however, due to the departure of coach Anatoly Byshovets to the national team, they lost their game and could not even take a prize. Spartak became the champion for the sixth time. At the end of the season major league left “Tyumen” and Kaliningrad “Baltika”, in their place came Moscow Region “Saturn” and Nizhny Novgorod “Lokomotiv”.

Eighth Russian Football Championship was held from April 3 to November 8, 1999. The tournament was won for the seventh time by Moscow “Spartak”, having achieved 22 victories in 30 matches and suffered only two defeats. Sochi's "Pearl" and Yaroslavl's "Shinnik" were relegated to the first division.

Ninth Russian Football Championship was held from March 24 to November 12, 2000. It was attended by 16 clubs from 12 cities of Russia. At the end of the season, Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod and Uralan Elista left the Major League, followed by Torpedo-ZIL (Moscow) and Sokol (Saratov). Spartak became the champion for the eighth time.

Tenth Russian Football Championship was held from March 10 to November 4, 2001. It was attended by 16 teams from 11 cities. “Spartak” became the champion for the ninth time, the capital's “Lokomotiv” won the silver, the bronze went to the Saint Petersburg “Zenith”. Voronezh Fakel and Novorossiysk Chernomorets left the elite division.

Until 2001, the Russian Championship was managed by the Professional Football League (PFL), since 2002, the Russian Football Premier League (RFPL), specially created for this, has become responsible for organizing the competitions.

11th Russian Football Championship was held from March 8 to November 17, 2002. According to the tournament regulations, if two or more teams scored an equal number of points in the fight for the first place, the winner of the gold medals was determined in an additional match (tournament) on a neutral field, which was chosen by mutual agreement. At the end of 30 rounds, two Moscow teams - Lokomotiv and CSKA - had an equal number of points.

On November 21, 2002, four days after the end of the regular championship, in the "golden match" for first place at the Dynamo stadium in Moscow, Lokomotiv defeated CSKA with a score of 1: 0 and won gold medals for the first time in its history, breaking the hegemony " Spartak "of 6 championships in a row. The only goal in the “golden match” was scored by Dmitry Loskov in the 6th minute. The Red and White won bronze medals. The Makhachkala "Anji" and the Saratov "Sokol" took off in the first division, and Kazan "Rubin" and "Chernomorets" came in their place.

12th Russian Football Championship was held from March 15 to November 1, 2003. At the end of the season, Uralan and Chernomorets left the Major League, followed by Amkar from Perm and Kuban from Krasnodar. Champion for the first time in his Russian history became the Moscow CSKA. The second place was taken by "Zenith". Bronze medals for the first time in the history of the tournament were won by the newcomer of the Premier League - “Rubin”.
