    No chance for rivals

    Russian Margarita Mamun won gold in the individual all-around, beating her teammate Yana Kudryavtseva, who became the absolute world champion for three years in a row. Kudryavtseva made a mistake in the exercise with clubs, receiving a deduction for this element, and the score prevented her from claiming gold after Mamun completed her fourth event - the ribbon. However, the silver medalist Kudryavtseva stressed that she was happy to have a medal, because in her life the Olympic Games might not have happened at all.

    “I’m not going to think about it yet (about participation in the 2020 Olympic Games). I adore Tokyo, this is one of my favorite cities, we go there every year to compete. I am sure that they will hold the Olympics at the highest level. I’m not guessing, but I would like to, ”said 20-year-old Mamun after the victory.

    Kudryavtseva also noted that she hopes to perform at the Tokyo Games in four years.

    “Glad for the silver, glad it's over. Let us be content with what we have, because all this might not have happened. There could be no Games. I managed to cry after the clubs, but the coach and I talked. She said, "Let go of all emotions." And I already went out and performed calmly. Now, with all my heart, I am insanely happy with my silver. Cried, maybe because it was over. While I am resting, God forbid, I will make it to Tokyo, and I will perform there, I am only 19 years old, ”said Kudryavtseva.

    In the morning, the Russian national rhythmic gymnastics team in group exercises qualified with the second result in the final of the Olympic tournament, which will be held on Sunday. Anastasia Maksimova, Anastasia Bliznyuk, Anastasia Tatareva, Maria Tolkacheva and Vera Biryukova scored 35.516 points on the sum of two exercises - with five ribbons and with two hoops and six clubs. The first place was taken by the Spaniards, the third in the qualification were the Belarusians. Also, the national teams of Italy, Japan, Israel, Bulgaria, Ukraine made it to the final.

    Historical success of handball players

    Russian handball players won Olympic gold medals for the first time on Saturday. In the final, Evgeny Trefilov's team defeated the French women - 22:19. The game as a whole took place with the advantage of the Russians, only in the second half did the rivals manage to level the score once, but the Russian team again went into the lead and brought the matter to victory.

    For two Russian handball players - Ekaterina Marennikova and Irina Bliznova - these medals became the second in their careers. In 2008, they already became silver medalists at the Beijing Games. After the victory in Rio, the captain of the Russian national team Bliznova announced her retirement. “I have put a golden point in my career,” said the athlete.

    Trefilov said that he has no plans to leave the Russian national team yet. “I have all titles except the European Championship. So this tournament will work with the national team for sure. Let's try to work out another Olympic cycle, why not? It's another matter that everything is possible in life, ”said the coach of the champions.

    Lesun tore everyone

    The Olympic tournament in modern pentathlon ended with the triumph of Russian Alexander Lesun, who, after an excellent result in fencing, held out at a satisfactory level in swimming and show jumping, although there were problems with the horse (3 fells), but managed to start first and did not give up a position at the finish line.

    According to the results of four events, the Russian scored 1479 points, setting a new Olympic record. Silver went to the Ukrainian Pavel Timoshchenko (1472). Bronze from the Mexican Marcelo Hernandez (1468). “I went out, and there was a feeling that it was as if I would tear everyone up here. I felt like a master here, ”the Olympic champion shared his mood.

    “Alexander is the best sportsman in the world, he has proved it with his entire career. No wonder he in an interview when asked about the real main competitor said: "My competitor is Alexander Lesun." This victory is primarily President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, because the attention, support that he provides to our sport, there is no such support anywhere in the world, "said the head of the Federation of Modern Pentathlon of Russia Vyacheslav Aminov.

    Sadulayev could not lose

    Freestyle wrestler Abdulrashid Sadulayev won a gold medal in the weight category up to 86 kg on Saturday. The two-time world champion confidently passed the entire tournament bracket, winning in the semifinals against Olympic champion from Azerbaijan Sharif Sharifov, and in the final - from the native of Ingushetia Zelimkhan Kartoyev, now playing for Turkey under the name Selim Yasar.

    “The Olympics have been my dream since childhood, today my dream has come true,” said the champion. - I am very glad that I met the hopes of the coaches and fans. This is our common victory. I don't set myself a 10-0 goal to do. I go out on the carpet, and then how will it turn out. Each time it is harder and harder to fight with rivals, so you have to fight twice more in training. We didn’t have a gold medal yesterday, so I had to win anyway, there’s no other way. ”

    The bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympics, three-time world champion Bilyal Makhov (125) performed extremely unsuccessfully - the super heavyweight lost the first meeting and dropped out of the fight for the tournament medals.

    Obstacle Race with Broken Finger

    Russian cyclist Irina Kalentieva was left without a medal in the women's cross-country. The leader of the Russian national mountain bike team came to the finish line 17th, but as always unbending and with a positive attitude. Before this Olympics, Kalentieva missed several races, since at the start of the season she underwent surgery for appendicitis, and in training before the competition, already in Rio, she broke her thumb.

    “The operation for appendicitis also affected, and I broke my thumb shortly before the race, but I passed it. Maybe this is my last Olympics, we'll see. In the meantime, I'm getting ready for the World Cup in Andorra and for the next season, - Kalentieva told reporters. - The starting position was not the best, and five months of training to reach a high level after appendicitis surgery is not enough. But I got there, albeit in the middle. I think that even participating in the Olympic Games is great. I am not at my peak yet, I intend to recruit it for the World Cup final. "

    Gold in this type of program was won by the Swede Jenny Rissweds (1.30.15), the second was the representative of Poland Maya Włoszczowska (1.30.52), the third - Katarin Pendrel from Canada (1.31.41).

    Minibaev completed the jumpers' medleless gait

    Now we can say for sure that Russian divers are leaving the Olympic Games without medals for the first time in 28 years. The last chance for them to win a medal in Rio was the final in individual jumping from the platform, where Viktor Minibaev went, but he also remained outside the winners (8th result).

    “There is disappointment, but life does not stand still. I will be preparing for the World Championships in Budapest and the Tokyo Olympics. But I am not satisfied with our Main coach(Oleg Zaitsev) in terms of his work: he is in himself, does not say anything to anyone, always everything at the very last moment. It seems to me, as a head coach, he should support us, and for two weeks in Rio he never approached me, did not ask me how things were, ”Minibaev said following his performance at the Games.

    Out of the final was the debutant of the Games Nikita Schleikher, who stopped at the previous stage of the tournament. At the end of the semifinals, Schleicher stopped fighting and did it in good company - the Games medalist and one of the main diving stars Thomas Daly (Great Britain) also failed to make it to the final. “Now I have even more motivation for Tokyo, I want to be the Olympic champion in individual jumping from the platform,” admitted Daly.

    Well, the Chinese Chen Aisen won that day, the Mexican Herman Sanchez won the silver, the American David Budaya won the bronze.

    Shtokalov without a second medal

    The Russian national kayaking and canoeing team was left without medals on the last day of the competition at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Verchenova showed the best result, but too late

    The second set of awards was played in a golf tournament, and a Korean woman named Pak Inbi became the Olympic champion. Russian Maria Verchenova showed the best result on the fourth day, setting a field record, and soared to 16th place in the final classification. It is noteworthy that she completed one of the holes in just one hit.

    The women's triathlon race proved to be pretty predictable in all respects. The winner was the American Gwen Jorgensen, who has dominated this sport in recent years, and the silver medalist was the 2012 London champion, Swiss Nicola Spirig. The Russians, as expected, took places below the second ten: Alexandra Razarenova's 20th place (+4.53 lag), 25th - Maria Shorets (+5.17), 32nd - Anastasia Abrosimova (+6.29).

    Neymar led the Brazilians to victory

Bronze medals were previously won by the basketball players of the Serbian national team, who beat France. Finally, the game day ended with a volleyball match between the women's teams of China and Serbia. The offenders of the Russian national team at the quarterfinals stage, the Serbs confidently won the first set 25:19, but later they could not impose a serious fight on the Chinese women and eventually lost in the next three - 17:25, 22:25, 23:25. Day 11, August 16, 2016, Broadcasts watch online:

    Wrestler Roman Vlasov, gymnast Aliya Mustafina and tennis players Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova secured a record for Russia in terms of gold medals won at the current Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro - three awards at the end of the competitive day.

    Sunday afternoon, smoothly flowing into Monday, was also remembered for another round in the proceedings with the Russian athlete Daria Klishina, whom the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) did not allow to participate in the Olympics because of her appearance in the report of the independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

    Unbending Aliya

    Mustafina's gold became extremely important in the exercise on the uneven bars, which is considered her signature look. The Russian woman became a two-time Olympic champion, winning the second gold in this discipline in a row after London 2012. It was not easy for her to do this due to the fact that at these Games she performed with back pain, but even so, she also won silver in team competitions and bronze in individual all-around.

    In the uneven bars, Mustafina won 15,900 ahead of American Madison Koshan (15.833) and German Sophie Scheder (15.566).

    Many expected that Mustafina could announce her retirement, but the head coach of the Russian national team Valentina Rodionenko told TASS that the 21-year-old athlete intends to rest for two years, and then begin to prepare for the Olympic cycle before the 2020 Games in Tokyo. The athlete herself later confirmed this.

    In addition, Maria Paseka became the second in the vault, in which she is the reigning world champion. Gold was won by American Simone Biles, who won in Rio de Janeiro already in the all-around and in team competitions, the third place was taken by the Swiss Julia Steingruber.

    The legendary 41-year-old Oksana Chusovitina, who played for the national teams of the USSR, the United Team, Germany and now represents Uzbekistan, became the seventh, but at the same time announced that she did not intend to end her career, but wanted to compete at the World Championships next year in Canada.

    Britain's Max Whitlock, who won gold in floor exercise and on horseback, successfully competed in men. The Russians did not perform in the freestyle, and in the exercise on the horse David Belyavsky and Nikolai Kuksenkov took fifth and sixth places, respectively.

    Historic tennis gold

    Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina won Olympic gold in women's doubles for the first time in the history of the Russian national team. The girls in the Olympic final left no chances for the Swiss pair Martin Hingis / Timea Bachinski, beating them with a score of 6: 4, 6: 4. It is noteworthy that the Russians risked missing the 2016 Olympics altogether, because due to a plane breakdown and bad weather they did not have time for a flight from Canada and barely managed to arrive on the eve of the start of the Olympic tournament.

    After the final, Khingis recognized the strength of the Russians, and Vesnina and Makarova themselves said that the Olympics were a priority tournament for them this year, for which they postponed trials related to flight delays and poor living conditions at the Games.

    The tennis tournament of the Olympics ended in the men's final, in which Briton Andy Murray defeated Argentine Juan Martin del Potro with a score of 7: 5, 4: 6, 6: 2, 7: 5. The bronze medalist was the Japanese Kei Nishikori, who defeated the 2008 Olympic champion Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

    Murray became the first tennis player in Olympic history to win two gold medals in an individual tournament. Four years ago, he won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and also won silver in the mixed doubles.

    Repeat the path of Karelin

    In the evening program, Russia rightly expected victory from the Greco-Roman style wrestler in the weight category up to 75 kg Roman Vlasov. The 25-year-old Russian justified hopes.

    Vlasov left no chances to any of his rivals, and in the final he beat Dane Mark Madsen with a score of 5: 1. Nor did the Russian stop an unpleasant episode in the semifinals, where the judge allowed the Croat Bozho Starcevic to strangle the Russian, which made him lose consciousness, but soon came to his senses and won the fight.

    Thus, Vlasov became a two-time Olympic champion, having won four years ago in London. Four years later in Tokyo, he has a chance to repeat the record of Alexander Karelin, who won three gold in a row (1988, 1992, 1996). Myself two-time winner Games said that it was impossible to break Karelin's record. “This man (Karelin. - approx. TASS) did everything in sports. He is a colossus, ”said Vlasov.

    Silver Kamensky and bronze by Elfutina in windsurfing

    The final day turned out to be extremely offensive Olympic competitions in shooting, where two Russians reached the final of the discipline in rifle shooting from 50 meters from three positions - Sergei Kamensky, who became the first in qualification, and Fedor Vlasov.

    Before his final shots for the first place, Kamensky was ahead of the Italian Nicola Campriani, who had already become the Olympic champion in air rifle shooting from 10 meters here. The Italian smeared the last shot, but Kamensky shot even worse, becoming the vice-champion.

    The bronze was won by the Frenchman Alexis Reino. Vlasov, who was in the lead during the final, finished seventh.

    The results of the shooting tournament turned out to be successful for domestic representatives of bullet shooting and unsuccessful for representatives of trap shooting. V bullet shooting Russians won four medals: two silver and two bronze. Moreover, in Olympic London they had none. In trap shooting, none of the Russians even managed to overcome the qualification.

    The first Olympic medal in domestic sailing among women was won by Stefania Elfutina, who became the third in the RS: X (windsurfing) class. Frenchwoman Charlene Picon (64) won, the second was Chinese woman Chen Payna (66). The last time the Russians won medals in sailing 20 years ago was in Atlanta: Georgy Shaiduko, Igor Skalin and Dmitry Shabanov won silver in the Soling class.

    Denis Dmitriev won bronze in the personal sprint in the cycle track. In the fight for third place, the Russian in both races was stronger than Australian Matthew Gletzer. Gold was won by Briton Jason Kenny, who beat his compatriot Callum Skinner in the final. In the cycling track at the 2016 Games, the UK team has already won 6 medals in 6 disciplines (4 gold and 2 silver). For the Russian national team, Dmitriev's medal in this discipline at the Olympic Games became a debut: the previous time a domestic cyclist won a medal in the Games in an individual sprint on a cycle track in 1988 in Seoul, when Soviet athlete Nikolai Kovsh became a silver medalist.

    The silver medalist of the Games in the team sprint Anastasia Voinova, who reached the 1/8 finals in the sprint, continues to wrestle in the cycle track.

    WADA accused Klishina of concealing samples

    There was confirmation from the words of Klishina's lawyer Paul Green that the athlete could open the doping tests made during the 2013 World Cup in Moscow. According to the representative of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Mark Adams during the organization's briefing, the athlete will not perform at the Games if her name is mentioned in the McLaren report.

    “The Klishina situation is a matter for the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations),” Adams said. - We have already said that each federation makes decisions on such cases. As for the McLaren report, this is one of three key components that allow Russian athletes to prove their innocence. WADA has done everything to ensure that all federations are aware of this information, and we must ask the IAAF about Klishina. "

    “If you are somehow touched upon in the McLaren report, you are out of the game. This was one of the key conditions for the participation or non-participation of Russian athletes in the Games in Rio de Janeiro, "Adams emphasized.

    As if in response to this, the President of the Russian Olympic Committee, Alexander Zhukov, said that the Russian team had passed about 360 doping tests in Tbilisi.

    CAS admitted Klishina to the 2016 Games

    On Monday morning, it became known that CAS granted the appeal of the Russian athlete Daria Klishina against the decision of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) not to allow her to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

    "CAS granted Klishina's appeal against the IAAF's decision not to allow her to participate in the Olympics," Reuters said in a statement.

    Russian athletes were barred from participating in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro due to the disqualification of the national federation; only Klishina, who lives and trains abroad, was supposed to perform at the Games. On July 21, CAS unanimously decided to reject the claim of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and domestic athletes against the IAAF for non-admission to the Games.

    Bolt's seventh victory and the start of synchronized swimmers

    The main event of the Olympic athletics tournament, of course, was the 100-meter race, in the final of which Jamaica's representatives Usain Bolt and Johan Blake, as well as American Justin Gatlin, as expected. The silver of 36-year-old cyclist Olga Zabelinskaya in the individual road race and the bronze of 19-year-old swimmer Anton Chupkov were a real surprise for the Russian fans.

    Silver

    Olga Zabelinskaya, the winner of two bronze medals at the OI-2012, brought the first medal to the collection of the Russian national team. The athlete, who received permission to compete at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro a few days before the start, in the individual race, which took place to the accompaniment of rain, lost only to the American Christine Armstrong, who was ahead of the Russian woman by less than six seconds.

    “I have two feelings,” Zabelinskaya said immediately after the finish. - Yes, I became a silver medalist at the Olympics, and in the situation in which I found myself, this is an excellent result. On the other hand, I could also become a champion. Armstrong bypassed me by only 5 seconds, it's a shame to lose so little in the last segment. "

    “Olga is quite capable of withstanding another Olympic cycle and qualitatively preparing for the next Games in 2020 in Tokyo. I take into account her attitude to sports, and her health still allows her to show good results, ”said Alexander Gusyatnikov, advisor to the president of the Russian Cycling Federation, to TASS.

    Zabelinskaya herself, returning to journalists after the awards ceremony, announced that she intends to continue training until the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, where she hopes to win a gold medal.

    In the final, the Russian woman was opposed by the Italian Eliza di Francisca. “In titles, of course, the Italian is stronger, but in her youth and desire to win, Inna surpassed her. Youth won over experience, "said Ilgar Mammadov, head coach of the Russian fencing team.

    Bronze

    The third place, which was taken in Rio de Janeiro by one of the youngest Russian swimmers Anton Chupkov, also came as a pleasant surprise for all Russian fans.

    The bronze medal of the 2016 Games is the greatest achievement in a swimmer's career. Russian swimmers have not won 200m breaststroke medals since the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Then Andrei Korneev finished the swim with the third result.

    “This bronze is for me with a particle of gold, because these are my first Games,” the athlete emphasized. - I am pleased with myself: I completed the maximum task, won a medal. It was cool".

    Note that the Brazilian resort needed a lot of money to host the 2016 Games. More than $ 9 billion was spent on the construction of Olympic facilities and reconstruction of the transport system. The share of the state and private investors in this amount is approximately 50/50 divided.

    • sports and rhythmic gymnastics;
    • jumping on a trampoline;
    • tennis;
    • taekwondo.

    It is noteworthy that the Olympic Games included two new sports: golf and rugby-7.

    Four major Olympic venues

    The most important sporting events will take place at Barra Tijuca Park near Lake Jacarepagua. There are three "Carioca Arena"... They will host competitions in such sports as:

    • judo;
    • wrestling;
    • basketball;
    • taekwondo;
    • fencing.

    There is also a water stadium, an Olympic tennis center, the Maria Lenk aquatic center, a Future Arena handball, three Riocentro pavilions (table tennis, boxing and badminton), a golf course, a gymnastic arena, a velodrome and a water stadium.

    As for the other three clusters: Maracana, Deodoro and Copacabana then competitions in other sports should be held on their territory.

    It is important to emphasize that the opening ceremony was held in Marakana and the closing of the 2016 Games should take place.

    In the Rio Olympics, only those countries of the Olympic Committees that are members of the IOC are eligible to participate. These are 206 countries. For the first time ever in Olympic medals the "team of refugees" (South Sudan, Kosovo) will fight.

    By the way, the USA will have the largest representation. As many as 554 athletes. In second place are Brazilian athletes with 465 people. Russia will be represented at the Games in Rio with 271 athletes. This number was approved by the IOC. Initially, there was an application for 389 athletes, but some of the athletes did not pass the admissions according to certain criteria.

    On the selection criteria for Russian athletes

    After lengthy proceedings in a high-profile anti-doping scandal, at first it was decided not to admit the entire Russian national team to the 2016 Olympics. This even applied to those athletes who had never taken doping. But, after some time, it was decided to select Russian athletes according to the main and only criterion - the absence of any violations under anti-doping rules.

    The final decision on the admission of the Russian National Team was entrusted to three people from the IOC:

    1. Head of the Athletes' Commission Claudia Bockel (German).
    2. Head of the Medical Commission Ugur Erdener (Turk).
    3. Member of the Executive Committee Juan Antonio Samaranch (Spaniard).

    These three men ruled out the Russian national rowing team as well as the weightlifting team. According to them, the largest number of cases of violations of the anti-doping program were revealed there.

    Vladimir RAUSH
    from the Olympic Park

    Writing about Russian rhythmic gymnastics is simple and difficult at the same time. Simply - because everything seems to be on the surface. The fans are used to the fact that ours always win in this sport. Yesterday. Today. And tomorrow too. Any other outcome will be perceived as news of the end of the world. As if the world collapsed, or the earth went out of its orbit. The comparison may be trivial, but nothing else comes to mind. If only because in the last twenty years of Olympic history this has never happened.

    The difficulty of reporting on rhythmic gymnastics is that it is almost impossible to say something new. Everything has already been written before us. And about the cruel regime of the day and the nutrition of the athletes who live at the base in Novogorsk, in fact, in a barracks position. And about their grueling training. Not just physically difficult - any professional athlete will tell you about them. We are talking specifically about training, which is morally exhausting. Endless repetitions of individual elements and runs of entire programs - to shine, to automatism. Those who maximize the rating, but hit the psyche with a hammer and crumble the brain.

    SESSIONAL KUDRYAVTSEVA

    When planning to write about competitions in individual all-around, your correspondent wondered: what place did they take Margarita Mamun and Yana Kudryavtseva at the past Games? Only after several minutes of intense reflection, my memory suddenly suggested that not one of them performed there. Other Russians shone in London - gorgeous Evgeniya Kanaeva and her teammate Daria Dmitrieva... It's not about my sclerosis, it's just that Mamun and Kudryavtseva were so accustomed to their constant victories that it seems that they were always on the platform.

    It was not by chance that I began to remember the performance of our athletes in London. One of the revelations of recent months was an interview Kudryavtseva in "SE", in which the athlete said: it is not very important for her to win in Rio de Janeiro. The main thing is that the gold medal goes to the Russian woman. Hearing this, I was amazed. This undermined the essence of elite sport. His main driving force has always been personal ambition, multiplied by the prestige of the Olympic champion title. All athletes are always driven forward by one thing - the desire to become the best, to surpass, to prove.

    And here a person voluntarily renounces the main thing in his life, sacrificing this in favor of partners. If there was a share of cunning in Yana's words, it was quite small - I don't think she was twisting her soul, wanting to play the role of an unmercenary. It is just such a degree of physical and spiritual self-sacrifice, brought to the absolute. It is worth understanding this, and no other explanation is needed to describe the psychological portrait of Russian "artists". Although, perhaps, it is not given to us, mere mortals, to fully understand it.

    MALFUNCTIONAL CLUBS

    Pre-launch layouts seemed to speak in favor of Kudryavtseva... At three world championships of this Olympic cycle, she invariably took first place in the all-around, each time leaving her friend in the national team and the main rival Mamun behind the back. However, in the course of the Olympic qualification, Margarita presented a surprise. She confidently won the competition, breaking away from the second Russian woman by a solid 0.385 points. And this despite the fact that Mamun suffered a collapse in exercises with clubs - she lost the apparatus, received a serious deduction and took only 11th place in this discipline. You can imagine the level of her overall assessment, if the failure did not follow!

    In such a subjective sport as rhythmic gymnastics, qualification is always more than just selection. It is also an opportunity for judges to assess in advance the level of athletes and their readiness. It is no secret that the impression left in qualifications is often reflected in the marks received in the main competitions. And from this point of view, the Olympic all-around acquired a new intrigue.

    However, as soon as the tournament began, everything quickly fell into place. Kudryavtseva noticeably added to the complexity of the programs in exercises with a hoop and a ball, and after the first two types she won almost one and a half points from herself on Friday. Mamun, on the contrary, was slightly inferior to herself. In general, the two leaders of the tournament were separated by quite impressive 0.275 points: 38.475 for Kudryavtseva versus 38.200 for Mamun.

    Exercises with clubs in the light of what happened the day before acquired special significance. Mamun to the famous song We will Rock You Queen groups really rocked the hall, and most importantly - the judges. 19,050 - with that rating, she would have won this event in qualifying. But Kudryavtseva had a real sports tragedy. Performing the last throw of the club to the closing chords of her musical composition, she was unable to keep the slippery object in her palm and dropped it on the carpet.

    In anticipation of the assessment, Yana sat with her head lowered. The body shook with silent sobs. 17.883 - these points kept her overall second place, but deprived of all hope of winning. At that moment she lagged behind the other Russian woman by 0.892 points - this does not work out within the framework of one type.

    FORGETTING ABOUT PAIN

    Exactly Mamun opened the final view of the program - exercises with a ribbon. The camera zoomed in on her face just before the exit - from nervous tension it turned into a mask. But Rita coped with her task: falling on the carpet in the final of the exercise meant not only a spectacular ending, but also a huge relief in her soul. An estimated 19.233 gymnast and her mentor, famous in the past Amina Zaripova greeted in an embrace. It was clear that the Olympic champion had just finished her performance!

    I must pay tribute Kudryavtseva... She went to the platform, knowing full well that she would not rise above the second place. And this is where the habit worked in the right moments forget about pain - both moral and physical. Yana not only performed her program flawlessly, but even surpassed her rival - 19,250. And although this did not affect her standing in any way, for some reason I am sure that for the athlete herself it was extremely important.

    Everything in the world was not in vain. It was not in vain.

    Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Olympic Games 2016.
    Rhythmic gymnastics. August 20.
    Individual championship. The final.
    1. MAMUN - 76.483. 2. KUDRYAVTSEVA - 75.608. 3. Rizatdinova (Ukraine) - 73.583. 4. Song Yong Jae (Korea) - 72.898 5. Stanyuta (Belarus) - 71.333. 6. Galkina (Belarus) - 70.932.

    On Saturday, in exact accordance with the forecast, two awards at once - gold and silver - were won by the Russians at the end of the Olympic tournament in rhythmic gymnastics in individual all-around. The victory went to Margarita Mamun, and the 13-time world champion Yana Kudryavtseva, who was considered the favorite, was left with silver due to an error in the exercise with clubs. And on Sunday, the Russian national team won gold in the group exercises. Thus, our team has won both gold medals on the line in rhythmic gymnastics at the Olympics for the fifth time in a row. VALERIA MIRONOVA - with details from Rio de Janeiro.

    Yana Kudryavtseva found herself in Rio in a similar situation to the one in which the superchampion of those years Alina Kabaeva found herself in 2000 at the Sydney Games, who by her 18 years had won the all-around world championships three times, and in total she had already earned 13 top world titles. From Alina Kabaeva, the hoop "ran away" in Australia, and with it the Olympic title. He then went to her colleague in the national team Yulia Barsukova. Kabaeva achieved her goal only four years later in Athens. In Rio, Yana Kudryavtseva, despite having undergone a complex operation on the foot at the end of last year (she had a completely fractured scaphoid bone in the lifting area) and a three-month absence from competitive practice, came as a favorite. With all due respect to Margarita Mamun, who has also won several events at the world championships during her career, this brilliant 19-year-old gymnast was still considered the second number of the national team. But it was she, and not Yana Kudryavtseva, who was destined to win here first qualifying competitions, in which both of our athletes did not avoid mistakes, and then the final.

    The main all-around competition, in which ten finalists consistently performed exercises with a hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon, was opened by Margarita Mamun. However, after her two absolutely unmistakable exits, there was a feeling that the judges, despite all their impartiality (this fact was noted here by all the participants), still a little bit, but they held back their marks. Probably because then it was Yana Kudryavtseva's turn. And the arbiters, of course, knew firsthand how charmingly she can do her exercises. And when for her exits, first with a hoop, and then with a ball, Kudryavtseva received one and a half to two tenths more than Margarita Mamun, the feeling that it was her who was being brought to the highest pedestal was finally strengthened.

    But everything changed in one second. With the final chord of the "cosmic" composition, under which Kudryavtseva launched, there were clubs to the sky, but could not catch them back. Although she tried to hide her embarrassment, already lying in the final position and covering the clubs with her hand. This mistake decided the fate of the Olympic gold, which smoothly rolled from her hands to the hands of her reliable understudy. Ironically, Yan Kudryavtsev was brought up with objects for which she worried less than others. “The most difficult exercises for me are with a hoop and a ribbon,” she told Kommersant. “There you have to run, jump, jump and fly, which, given my injury, is unsafe for me. The clubs are quieter. There you work more with your hands. "

    It is noteworthy that the victory in the final form - in the exercise with the ribbon - was again won by Yana Kudryavtseva. But she went to him, knowing for sure that she would never become a champion under any circumstances.

    Recalling the fateful moment for her, Yana Kudryavtseva said: “At the end of the performance, my strength was already running out, I threw the clubs badly and did not have time to realize that they were flying badly. That is, she could have done something, but did not have time. Of course, there is frustration, but there could be no silver either. "

    Margarita Mamun (right) in the individual all-around beat her titled partner in the Russian national team, the favorite of the tournament, Yana Kudryavtseva

    And Margarita Mamun, who cleanly performed all her compositions, staged by the head coach of the team Irina Zenovka and honed in collaboration with personal trainer Amina Zaripova under the supervision of the President of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation and the head coach of the national team Irina Viner-Usmanova, was in seventh heaven. “On the whole, I was calm,” the Olympic champion recalls her feelings during the tournament. “I didn’t see Yana’s mistake and didn’t know who was in which place. I found out about the mistake when Yana made the tape and came to me. After all, I also made a mistake in qualification - I was distracted for a split second. But after yesterday's clubs, I was no longer afraid to make a mistake again. Our sport is like this: I went out and did it. Wrong - only your fault. Yana and I always support each other and have become relatives to each other. "

    Irina Viner-Usmanova believes that Margarita Mamun did all the exercises very cleanly. But she was especially noted for her ribbon exercise. “The tape is the last view on which everything could be decided. This is a very difficult subject, especially in Brazil, where the humidity is very high. We were scared that the ribbons would be tied, but I told the girls right away - someone would be the first, someone would not, and we worked calmly and correctly, ”Ms Viner-Usmanova emphasized.

    And she called the performance of Yana Kudryavtseva a feat and a huge victory, referring to everything she experienced after the 2015 World Cup, in which the gymnast won with a broken leg. “Yana underwent a major operation, was in a cast for a month, then recovered for a long time. And today we saw the highest mark in three out of four. In just one form, Yana did not bring the matter to the end, "Ms Viner-Usmanova expressed regret and wished Yana Kudryavtseva, drawing an analogy with Alina Kabaeva, to rectify the situation at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.

    The Olympic triumph of Russian rhythmic gymnastics became complete - for the fifth time in a row - the next day, when the group exercises took place. And this ending had a completely different plot than the personal ending. He even made me remember that there were times when someone else could challenge the Russian "artists", could get ahead of them.

    In Rio, the Spanish women threw themselves into a challenge, having famously prepared for this Olympics. As cool as it was for the 1996 Olympics, when the group mined gold. They excelled in qualification, and in the first final exercise - with five ribbons - slightly, two tenths of a point, ahead of the Russian group. Moreover, between the two favorites, the Bulgarians also wedged themselves in. In the stands they whispered about the sensation until the performance of the Russian five - Vera Biryukova, Anastasia Bliznyuk, Anastasia Maksimova, Anastasia Tatareva and Maria Tolkacheva - took place in exercises with three clubs and two hoops.

    It was amazing - in terms of dynamics, in terms of saturation with complex elements - the program. And for her, the Russian group received an amazing rating - 18.633. Against the background of her performance, even very, very, really decent in terms of the level of performances of Spanish women and Bulgarians did not look. These were the universes too different. And the points received for the clubs with hoops were, of course, quite enough for the Russian girls to take gold in total.

    • Israel;
    • Spain;
    • Italy;
    • China;
    • Uzbekistan;
    • Ukraine;
    • Japan.

    Rhythmic gymnastics competition calendar

    Rhythmic gymnastics competitions will last three days.

    • Individual and group qualifications will take place on August 19;
    • On August 20, the qualification for the group all-around will end, and the final in the individual all-around will also be held;
    • On August 21, the finals of the rhythmic gymnastics competition in the group category will take place.

    Since only women are engaged in rhythmic gymnastics, men do not participate in this discipline.

    The judges evaluate several parameters:

    • Difficulty of exercise. There are strict requirements for the exercises;
    • Artistry and choreography. Since gymnastics is rhythmic, sometimes it looks more like ballet;
    • Execution - that is, mistakes made during the competition.

    There is also one coordinator who makes sure that all the elements that should be included in the program are present in it.

    Often, additional items are used for performances to make the exercises more spectacular:

    • Jump rope;
    • Mace;
    • Tapes;
    • Hoop;

    The duration of an individual performance is 1.5 minutes, and a group performance is 2.5 minutes.
