His father Vladimir Zinchenko, himself a former football player, became the first teacher of his son. On September 1, 2004, at the age of 8, Alexander was enrolled in the Radomyshl CYSS and began playing for the team of the Radomyshl CYSS "Karpatia", where he was distinguished by a spectacular and effective attacking game.
From 2004 to 2008, the team "DYUSSH-Karpatia" was the permanent winner of regional competitions and a prize-winner of all-Ukrainian competitions.

A man from the youth academy of Shakhtar Donetsk moved to the modest Russian club Ufa, which had been on the go before. Yes, I went with the Ukrainian national team to the 2016 European Championship, but there his team became the worst in the tournament, failing to score a single point. Escape from Ukraine
The first scandal erupted when Zinchenko decided to flee from Shakhtar. In time, this approximately coincided with the beginning of hostilities in the territory of Donbass, but is not directly connected with the non-football history.
Zinchenko left Shakhtar because the club refused to sign a lucrative contract with him, forcing him to play for a meager salary at the junior level. By that time, Zinchenko had already been included in the symbolic team of two European Championships for players under 17 and under 19 years old, and at the age of 16 he was the captain of the Pitmen's youth team, in which guys 2-3 years older than him played. Then it was still clear that Alexander had a bright football future.
Not finding understanding in Donetsk, Zinchenko, on the advice of agents, unilaterally broke the contract and went in search of a new team to Russia. The first attempt brought the player to Kazan. He went to training camp in Italy with the local Rubin. But due to unclear circumstances, it was not possible to declare the footballer in the composition of the two-time champions of Russia.

Then there was a variant with "Ufa", which immediately became interested in the young talent and signed a contract with the player.
But Shakhtar were not going to give up their footballer so easily. Donetsk club filed a complaint with The International Federation football (FIFA), demanding to ban Zinchenko from playing football in the form of "Ufa", at least until the Ukrainians are paid compensation for the player who unilaterally terminated the contract.
Court cases are still ongoing. In the future, if a decision is made in favor of the Ukrainian club, problems may affect Zinchenko's new team, Manchester City.

The next scandal around the player's name erupted when information appeared in the press that the Ufa player was going to renounce his Ukrainian citizenship and receive a Russian passport. Naturally, this information was taken too emotionally during the period of tense relations between the two neighboring countries.
But no one could expect rumors that would spread immediately, as soon as the general public became aware of the player's desire to change citizenship. Immediately in the press there was information that Zinchenko decided to receive a Russian passport not at all because of a desire to get rid of the status of a legionnaire in the Russian Football Premier League(RFPL), but due to the fact that a summons from the army came to his name in Ukraine. This transferred the case to another level - the fugitive football player became almost a deserter. The minimum is a deviator.
“This decision will help me in my future career. I have always considered myself Ukrainian, Ukrainian blood flows in me, and I would not want anyone to consider my act a betrayal. I believe that Ukraine and Russia are fraternal countries, ”the footballer said at the time.
After some time, however, both the Ukrainian side and Zinchenko himself, together with his family, denied the information about the summons from the army and about the desire to join the ranks of the Russians. Something made the player change his mind. But the pause that elapsed between the first injection and the subsequent response made many think.
The much needed "traitor"
Zinchenko decided to remain Ukrainian. He confessed his loyalty to his homeland and promised to serve his homeland on football fronts. But the scandals did not end there.
In October 2015, for the first time in his life, he received a call to the national team and even took part in an official match - in last game qualifying tournament for Euro 2016 against Spain. Alexander came on as a substitute in the 88th minute. Then it caused a serious resonance among Ukrainian fans. They did not understand why they should call a player playing for a Russian club to the national team, who, in their opinion, dreamed of getting a Russian passport. But the passions did not rage for long - in the end everyone realized that it was done with one goal - to play promising footballer for the national team of Ukraine, so that in the future, even with all the desire, he could not play for the Russian national team or any other national team.

Sasha was born on December 15, 1996 in the small town of Radomyshl, in the Zhytomyr region. The head of the family, Vladimir, was a football player. He became a mentor in football for the child.
