Ivan Galushkin: I was invited to the opening in Sochi for my silver medal in biathlon at the Youth Olympic Games, which took place in 2012 in the Austrian Innsbruck. I flew to Sochi in the company of both well-known, legendary figures of national sports, and with young talents who showed themselves at the Youth Olympics. At first, we did not even know where we would sit, and we certainly could not imagine that it would turn out to be a VIP box, and we would sit next to the president and prime minister.

Ivan Galushkin: Yes, he is a very positive and interesting person. During the ceremony, I had some questions about the historical facts that were portrayed on the stage, and he calmly explained everything to me. I especially remember the moment when, at the very beginning of the ceremony, one of the Olympic rings did not fully open. My friend, Alexander Selyaninov, and I were very surprised and alarmed, because this is just the beginning ... but Dmitry Anatolyevich quickly reassured us, saying: "It's okay, guys. And this happens." And he assured us that an even more interesting and exciting part of the event awaits us.

Ivan Galushkin: In fact, I have not had time to watch the video yet, since now I am at a sports training camp in Bashkiria and there is not a very good connection here. It is quite possible that before the opening, many of the organizers from our side did not sleep for several nights, probably, they were preparing for the opening of the games and had already watched this ceremony at the rehearsals.
website: How do you manage to combine studies at a university with professional sports?
Ivan Galushkin: I study at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at the Pedagogical University in the 3rd year, it is difficult, considering that I am constantly on the road. I have an amazing dean, course curator and teachers with whom I keep in constant contact and am very glad that they are sympathetic to my passes. I take and complete assignments with me on trips, I communicate a lot with classmates who help me in every possible way: they send lectures and practical lessons, help me figure out difficult topics and exercises, and even just support morally, which plays a huge role in my motivation.
website: What are your plans?
Ivan Galushkin: Now I am preparing for the Russian Biathlon Championship, which will be held in Krasnoyarsk in March. And in the future, I really want to get to the Winter Olympic Games as a participant!
