• Roman emelyanov football player with his wife. Ural midfielder Roman Yemelyanov called up to the new Russian national football team

    16.09.2021

He is called the most talented football player in Russia. The leading clubs in Europe are interested in him.

    "Abramovich is an ordinary person"

    - Roma, are you in recent times you probably feel like a star. does not fame get in the way?

When I was just invited to an internship at Chelsea, everyone's attention to my person, to be honest, was a little annoying. but now everything has somehow resolved. At least, I walk around Togliatti quite calmly - no one throws themselves on my neck.

    - How did the option with Chelsea come about?

We had a youth tournament in Togliatti, and the breeders of the London club came to it. I managed to play in the tournament for two teams at once. First, for the team born in 92, and then for the older guys, born in 89. It turned out, apparently, not bad, because after that, literally a couple of days later, an invitation from Abramovich followed.

    - Did Roman Arkadyevich himself call?

Of course not. But the initiative came from him. And when I arrived in England, Abramovich and I talked quite a lot. He is an ordinary person, without any stardom and show off. He invited me to have dinner at a restaurant, promised that he would help me to settle in a new place.

    - Did anything surprise you at Chelsea?

Actually, no. Of course, everything is very well organized there, the infrastructure is excellent. but in our Togliatti football academy it is no worse.

    - You talk about Togliatti all the time. How did you end up at the Hemp Academy?

I started playing football at the Harmony school in Pavlovo, my first coach was Petr Aleksandrovich Leontiev. Then he moved to Pavlovsk "Torpedo", and from there to the Nizhny Novgorod Football Academy, which is supervised by FIFA referee Igor Yegorov. For some time I played in Nizhny Novgorod, and then at one of the tournaments I was noticed by representatives of the Togliatti school. In short, the usual path of a football player. You always have to be ready to move.

    - Okay, back to Chelsea. Was the training there very different from what you are used to?

The fact is that their season was in full swing, while ours was just beginning at that moment. Therefore, in Togliatti I was engaged in heavy pre-season training, where the emphasis is on physical exercises... And training at Chelsea was easy, rehabilitative. I worked with the youth team, to which, by the way, the recovering Michael Essien (the football player of Chelsea and the Ghana national team - author's note) was seconded.

    - What do you think about Essien? Strong footballer?

Yes, you can immediately see from him that he is a star! This is especially noticeable when working with the ball. I still have to grow and grow before him. The coaches said that no one should touch him too much - after all, the man just recovered after a serious injury. Therefore, we treated him very carefully.

    - Who else of the stars did you manage to communicate with?

With Frank Lampard, with John Terry, with Didier Drogba ... And I saw almost everyone like that. Even Guus Hiddink talked to me several times, asked about various matters.

    - Did you communicate in English?

No, I'm not good with a foreign language yet. We spoke through an interpreter.

    - Are you planning to learn English?

Yes, it will now be necessary. Still, English is the language of international communication, there is nothing without it. I hope that in the summer I will sit tight for him.

"Chelsea made it clear that I was needed"

    - Did you want to return home from London?

Well, on the one hand, I really liked everything in England. But I'm already used to Togliatti, and I couldn't stay at Chelsea yet

In England, you cannot sign contracts with players until they are 18 years old. So I came back without a doubt.

    - Here you are talking about age. You're only 16, aren't you even finished school?

Yes, I'm in 11th grade now. But to be honest, I haven't been to school for 8 months. All the time, training camps, training ... I do not know how I will pass the final exams - it will be too much to catch up. I hope the teachers will meet me halfway.

    - And you probably don't even think about the university?

Yes, time for higher education apparently will not remain. Now I will go for internships at Chelsea 5 times a year, and as soon as I turn 18, I will finally move to England.

So you have already firmly decided that, apart from Chelsea, you are not interested in anything? Don't you consider other options?

They do not seek from goodness. In the case of Chelsea, it is immediately clear that the club is interested in me, that I am needed. Moreover, Chelsea have already done a lot for me. Therefore, my path lies in London. Although before I was invited by Abramovich, I dreamed of playing for Real Madrid. I have been rooting for this club since childhood.

    - Do you have any desire to play in a strong Russian club before leaving abroad?

There is no guarantee that I will play at the base in CSKA, Zenit or Lokomotiv. And for me it is very important. It is much better to play, even in the second league, than to sit in reserve in a strong team.

    - What position are you in?

I usually act in the middle of the field, a little closer to the defense. But I do not forget to connect to the attack either. You could say a defensive midfielder with advanced features.

    - Is the life of a second league footballer not easy?

The lower divisions have their own laws. The pitches are not the best here, there are a lot of struggles and hard joints. But all this allows you to temper your character. After such a school, you are already ready for any conditions.

    - Why, in your opinion, did the Konoplev Academy take a leading position in the country?

First, the best coaches work here. They will always help in the right moment, will prompt and direct you in the right direction. Secondly, the academy already has a certain reputation. Now the best young footballers from all over the country come here, and after Alan Dzagoev played in CSKA, the Hemp Academy became famous all over the country. All conditions are created here for the growth of talented youth

live. Great base, cool fields - what else do you need?

    - Does your native Nizhny Novgorod have a chance to become a truly football city?

I don't know what our teams constantly lack. After all, there are many fans in Nizhny, and everyone loves football. And there was no serious team for a very long time. But now, as far as I know, serious work is going on in this direction. Let's hope that in a few years there will be a Premier League in Nizhny Novgorod.

"Football is the only real sport"

    - You don't even have time to study. Do you have time for anything other than football?

We can say no. To play well, you need to give all your best in training, it takes a lot of energy. Basically, my schedule looks like this: breakfast, workout, lunch, workout, dinner, sleep. And so every day.

    - But what about your personal life?

I have a girlfriend, her name is Valeria. But we do not manage to communicate as often as we would like. In this regard, it is much more difficult for me than for ordinary guys.

    - And home, in Pavlovo, do you manage to get out at least sometimes?

It works, but rarely. Next time I will go in July. My parents are there, and I miss them very much. And although I can also call Togliatti my home, sometimes I still feel drawn to my homeland.

    - By the way, how do your parents feel about your football career?

They are very happy for me. In general, my mother has always supervised me from the very beginning. She went with me to all the tournaments, to the screenings. And now I am already an adult, after all, I have been living away from home for a long time. Therefore, my parents respect my decisions, and I always feel their support.

    - Tolyatti is a sports city. Do you go to hockey or handball?

Football for me is not just sport number 1. I consider it the only real sport. So handball and hockey are almost not interesting to me. And time for others sports entertainment I don't have at all.

    - Many experts call you the most talented football player in Russia. Doesn't responsibility press you?

I try not to think about it. You can say as many times as you like that I am the best, but you still have to prove your worth on the field. When I get the Ballon d'Or or win something serious, then we'll talk.

    Roman Emelyanov's club career

He began to study in the sports school of his hometown of Pavlovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region. At the age of 13, he joined the Yuri Konoplev Football Academy, patronized by the Roman Abramovich National Football Academy Foundation. In 2008, Yemelyanov made his senior football debut, having played several matches with Togliatti from the second division of Russia. At the age of 18, he went to the youth team of Shakhtar. Prior to that, he went on an internship at Chelsea London, which is also owned by Abramovich. Here Emelyanov held several trainings with the main team.

Shakhtar Donetsk paid $ 1 million for the 17-year-old defensive player, setting a record for Russian under-age footballers. In Ukraine, Yemelyanov played in the reserve and youth team of Shakhtar, was one of the most prominent players on the field, but was not included in the main team and went on loan to Zorya. In this team he played 17 matches. In the summer of 2011 he returned to Shakhtar and played his only match in the starting lineup against Illichivets Mariupol. However, after five days Main coach Shakhtar Mircea Lucescu announced the player's transfer to Rostov on loan until the end of the season:

“Emelyanov will most likely go to Rostov. And then we'll see. The final days of the transfer window are yet to come. We will not buy anyone, of course, we will wait to see what offers will be received for our players "

He made his debut in the Rostov club on September 21, 2011 in a duel against Tom (3-1). Four days later, he played the first match in the Premier League against Amkar. He was sent off in the 49th minute, but his team still managed to get the minimum win with a score of 0-1. In October, Roman came out in starting lineup the fight against Zenit, but was replaced already at the twentieth minute. "Rostov" by that time was losing with a score of 0-2. Until the end of the season, he played in 21 matches, half of which he started in the starting lineup. Returning to Shakhtar, Yemelyanov was loaned to Illichivets and had a very successful 2012/13 season here, playing in 36 matches.

    Ural

After another short-term business trip to Rostov and victory in the Russian Cup, Yemelyanov moved to Ural. The agreement was calculated until the end of the 2014/15 season and included a clause on the priority right of redemption. Already in February 2015 he moved to the "bumblebees" on a permanent basis, having signed a contract for 2.5 years. By the end of the season, he finally established himself in the starting lineup, and the next year he became the main defensive player of the Yekaterinburg team. On July 31, 2016, Yemelyanov scored his first goal for Ural in the match against Ufa.

    International career

He was the main defensive player of the Russian national teams under 19 and 21 years old. He took part in several qualifying campaigns for the Euro, in 2013, together with the team under 19, he reached the elite round. He scored his only goal at the international level against Holland. This match was the last for him in the U-19 team.

    Achievements

    "Rostov"

    • Winner of the Russian Cup 2013/14

Ural's defensive midfielder Roman Yemelyanov (the footballer is 189 cm tall and weighs 85 kg) does not choose words in conversations with journalists. The athlete honestly stated that the ankle injury in 2017 at the match with Shinnik was due to poor field coverage. Roman frankly admits that the vaunted internship at Chelsea is needed, in his personal opinion, to raise the cost of players. However, the athlete also plays football straightforwardly - giving all his strength in every match and snatching victory from opponents.

    Childhood and youth

Roman was born on May 8, 1992 in the city of Pavlovo, located in the Nizhny Novgorod region. From a young age, the boy showed interest in sports. In winter, Yemelyanov played hockey, in summer - football, and in parallel, the future midfielder was engaged in sambo.

Free time the child spent fishing with his father. In an interview, Yemelyanov likes to recall a funny case when a trip to nature with nets ended with an acquaintance with a wild boar. The animal quickly left without causing harm, but this meeting was remembered by Roman for the rest of his life.

The beginning of Emelyanov's professional career was laid by his acquaintance with Igor Vyacheslavovich Egorov. Coach (present referee) selected talented young men for the sports boarding school where he worked. The man immediately appreciated Roman's skills and invited the novice athlete to Nizhny Novgorod.

When the teenager was 12 years old, a breeder from Togliatti came to one of the training sessions of the youth club. The novel, playing as a striker, attracted attention. After a short time, the teenager was offered to enter the Yuri Konoplev Football Academy.

After a long discussion of the situation with his parents, Yemelyanov agreed. True, the young man, who was not familiar with the rules of professional sports, did not warn the coach about his departure. Roman packed his things and no longer appeared on the playing field in Nizhny Novgorod.

    Football

In 2008, after a two-year stay at the academy, Roman is a member of football club Togliatti in the second division of Russia. A year later, at one of the training sessions, where representatives of Chelsea and personally came, Emelyanov received an invitation to an internship. The training took place in London under supervision.

Roman, who did not know the language, remembered little from the trip. The young man lived in an English family, with whom he hardly communicated. The young man spent most of the day on the field, where the English-speaking coach did not pay attention to the Russian footballer, who did not understand a word of the explanation of tactics and feints.

In January 2010, Roman signs a contract with Shakhtar. According to rumors, the Ukrainian football club paid $ 1 million for Yemelyanov's transfer. However, Roman himself says that at that moment he was not interested in money and even salary. The young man was happy to join the prestigious team.

Already at the first training session, the young athlete was impressed by his club colleagues. Coach Mircea Lucescu followed the young player closely. The man openly stated that Emelyanov needed more practice. Therefore, in the same year, Roman was rented out to the Zarya football club. After the end of the agreed period (the contract lasted for a year) Yemelyanov was released on the field in the main squad of Shakhtar.

And a couple of days after the match they were rented out again. This time the athlete went to the Rostov football club. For the next season and a half, Roman played for Illichivets (now the club is called Mariupol) and again briefly returned to Rostov.

The turning point in the athlete's biography was cooperation with Ural. The athlete admits that before the age of 21 he received many injuries and only under the control of head coach Alexander Tarkhanov began to gain decent shape. Cooperation with the club continued until 2015. In February of the same year, the management of Ural signed a full-fledged contract with the midfielder.

In 2016, Roman was called to the training of the Russian national football team. Up to this point, Yemelyanov was twice in the national team. In 2009, the midfielder joined the Russian youth football team under 19. And in 2011, the footballer was invited to the youth team, which included athletes under 21 years old.

    Personal life

In 2014, Roman Emelyanov said goodbye to the status of an enviable bachelor. The midfielder married a girl whose name was not disclosed in an interview. The young people met in Ukraine while the footballer was under a contract with Shakhtar.

The lovers did not arrange a solemn ceremony, but simply signed in the midfielder's hometown, celebrating the event in the circle of relatives and friends. After Emelyanov's final transfer to the "Ural", his wife followed her husband to Yekaterinburg. A photo of a beautiful couple can be seen in the athlete's personal Instagram account.

    Roman Emelyanov now

In February 2018, rumors appeared in sports circles that Zenit was eager to start negotiations on the purchase of Emelyanov from Ural. Peter's football club is ready to offer € 5 million for the midfielder. Similar conversations were already underway in mid-2017 and did not lead to anything.

In April 2018, in a match against Spartak, Roman was injured. The midfielder collided with and cut his head. Immediately after the incident, the footballer continued the game, but at the 85th minute he was forced to leave the field. The athlete was sent to the hospital for additional examination.

Doctors diagnosed a mild concussion and a temporal lobe dissection. However, in the next match against Anji Yemelyanov was announced in the starting lineup and entered the field. The competition ended with the victory of Ural.

A couple of days after the match with Spartak, the president of the Yekaterinburg football club in one of his interviews strongly advised the coach of the Russian national team to pay attention to Emelyanov, noting the merits of the football player and the athlete's efficiency.

Roman himself is incredibly proud to receive such a challenge.

Roman Emelyanov's training camp will begin on August 29. In the near future, the Russian national team will have two friendly matches - with Turkey and Ghana. The matches will take place on August 31 and September 6.

Meanwhile, one of the most famous residents of the Urals, Oleg Shatov, who this year presented Nizhny Tagil with a whole football field for 13 million rubles, was also invited to the national team. But Zenit's defender Igor Smolnikov is not on the list of the national team. But in the national team there are a lot of new players from the clubs "Rostov", "Terek" and "Lokomotiv".
